Unpopular opinion:
Once you voice out your opinions regularly on social media, you become a target to people who intentionally want to subdue you or what you stand for🙂

Some people want to be treated like royalty while behaving like everyone around them is beneath them. That's not royalty; that's entitlement.

🚨Chinese President Xi Jinping addresses the controversy surrounding Mbappé’s viral “Dictator” memes featuring Chairman Mao Zedong:
🗣️ “We have taken note of Mr. Mbappé’s remarks and the subsequent reaction, I am prepared to accept that he almost certainly intended this as light-hearted self-mockery among friends — an innocent joke rather than a calculated attempt to insult China or its history. Intent, however, does not erase impact. When a global football icon treats images of a foundational figure in modern Chinese history as casual entertainment, the effect on millions of people who regard that history with reverence cannot simply be dismissed as a misunderstanding.
Athletes of Mr. Mbappé’s stature carry enormous cultural influence. What feels like harmless banter in one context can be received as a casual disregard for another nation’s leadership, historical memory, and national dignity. Being a worldwide sporting star does not place anyone above the ordinary requirement of cultural sensitivity and basic accountability. Freedom of expression is a principle many societies value, yet it is not identical to the freedom to treat another country’s historical figures as interchangeable props for memes and laughs. Those two things should not automatically be treated as the same.
It is interesting to observe that certain Western celebrities are comfortable expecting the rest of the world to laugh along with their jokes, yet grow quite uncomfortable when those same jokes attract serious scrutiny or consequences. Respect between nations is more durable than any viral moment, internet engagement, or fleeting meme. A public and sincere apology from Mr. Mbappé would be a sensible first step toward repairing the trust that has been damaged. Such a gesture would demonstrate maturity and an understanding of his platform. Refusing to fully acknowledge the controversy, or treating it as an overreaction, risks making the situation considerably worse.
China values its relationships and the contributions of sports to international friendship. We also value the principle that national history and the feelings of our people are not optional considerations for anyone seeking to operate as a global figure. We hope this matter can be resolved through appropriate reflection and responsibility.
