How did the foreigners who've been charged over the alleged terrorist incident at RAF Fairford manage to get a council flat in Westminster?

5,000 street sleepers in this country and councils struggle to house them, give them a bed option or roof over their head. 38,000 illegals arrived this year and are in accommodation.

Yes, you just reminded me he had one in Aberdeen near a good small Italian Restaurant. Everyone flocked to La Lombarda. Jamie Oliver charged about £20 for Egg on Toast even back then. Did he think our heads zipped up the back? He had to close down

Absolutely the facts and this needs to be understood and acknowledged. Times were extremely different. We were glad to get a job, any job. @miriam_cates @GBNEWS
What people like Miriam Cates, the pensioner hater, need to know are these facts: In the 1960s, most pension schemes legally barred married women and part time workers from joining a private pension scheme. In the 1970s, private pension provision was largely restricted to public sector jobs. During these decades, many women opted for or were put on the reduced national insurance stamp meaning they'd get a smaller state pension than their husbands. Women didn't routinely have access to financial advice like they do now. They trusted the government and their husbands to take care of them. You may not like this. You may think it's unfair or women were daft to accept this. But that's how it was. Back then. Equality didn't exist. And you can't change attitudes and history. So no. Women couldn't have made better provision for their old age.

If the public sector pensions were decreased to a reasonable level there would be no need to tinker with the state pension. Some of the establishment civil servants get handsome pensions for messing up the country. Something needs to be done about that.

Her expenses would have provided 4 state pensions.
Hey @miriam_cates What did you spend £44,500 on in the year 2024 that you classify as miscellaneous? Asking for a nation of pensioners who have to live on a just over a quarter of that in a year.

I’m a pensioner “ a young un” always worked from 14 years old we had no option then, work or don’t eat! Why oh why do people begrudge the working pensioners their pension pennies. I know many pensioners are ok. I understand young people cannot get what they want, I didn’t get a house till I was 40 then had to pay through the nose to keep on top of everything that always needs doing. I have a daughter give her what I am able too. Morals, respect, self esteem, and work ethic has gone. It is so sad to see, I wish every young person a good prosperous life, and yes times are hard, they always have been. You have to work hard to get the things you need? Nobody is going to give it to you! Nothing comes for free in this life sadly, Especially with a Government that is take, take, take, they never cared even in the 70’s…. If the Government gave Every family a million we could all fcuk off and go live somewhere else. They give millions or is it billions of the tax payers money to every other Country? Rant over take care all. 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Christ, we saved around £21 a week when we started shopping in Aldi instead of Sainsburys!
Looks like the budget is going to save us £21 on our grocery shop. £21. In a year. Equals 40p a week. 🙄🤬

What us boomers didn't get. But we managed. 'Free' childcare. 15 hours 'free' childcare came into effect in 2010. Even if you don't go to work. 'Free' breakfasts at school. Came into effect in 2025. Statutory maternity pay. Came into effect in 1975. But even then, you had to have worked continuously for 2 years with the same employer. Paternity pay. Came into effect in 2003. They've never had it so good. Today's whingers.

100 days ago, I promised to do things differently. From cutting everyday costs to handing power back to communities, change is already underway. But I know there’s much more to do - this is just the beginning. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/a…
