Cdph.ca.gov image: masks and respirators from least to most effective: Cloth masks: poor seal(has gaps), fabric does not filter out hazardous materials Surgical masks :Varied material, poor seal (has gaps) KN95/KG94 respirators: international respirators, has ear loops causing a poor seal open parentheses has gaps) N95 respirator: domestic respirator, head straps, highly recommended for most every day hazards like infectious disease diseases, wildfire smoke, and air pollution.
