As former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms sprints toward November, some Democrats in Buckhead are still wrestling with her four years as mayor. “She was just absent.” @ajc ajc.com/politics/2026/10/mur…

Latino leaders made 3 simple asks of Gov Beshear/DGA: 1) Make a significant investment in Gina/Texas based on data showing the race as winnable 2) Meet with Latino U.S. Reps/leaders to collaborate 3) work with us to reach out to donors. They didn’t come through on any count.
NEW in @POLITICO: Gina Hinojosa’s win put Texas at the center of a political earthquake. It could bite Andy Beshear, the Kentucky governor who chairs the DGA. At its heart is an intra-party bruise over a history of a lack of investment in Latino candidates and communities, especially in Texas. That sparked a standoff between Hinojosa’s Latino allies and the DGA in the campaign’s final stretch. After Hinojosa’s victory her allies are vindicated. They’re also pointing their knives on the DGA, Beshear and his possible presidential ambitions — saying Texas isn’t his win to claim. More from on the ground in Austin: politico.com/news/2026/11/08…

Yes. Stop doubting Mississippi and the South.
Age gradient among White voters in Mississippi is insane, how does it basically not become a blue state long term ?

It’s hard to get a true comparison of the swing between 2026 and 2024 because they were different elections. So heres the swing in 2026 in each state VERSUS the last Trump midterm in 2018, relative to the nation. Regional differences are declining.

That’s the most insane stat I’ve heard this election. Georgia elected Ossoff, not just Atlanta.
Jon Ossoff would still have won Georgia’s Senate race even without Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, and Gwinnett counties.

For all the talk of moderate Republicans defecting to the Libertarian, he didn't even manage to break 2%! Seems like they either defected directly to Talarico or just undervoted in the Senate race.

This is why I keep saying this isn’t something I did. The people did it. So glad the nation is getting to see Mississippi and all its fierceness. #MississippiMatters
Young Black women in rural Mississippi are trying like hell to make sure no ballot gets thrown out unfairly in the Scott Colom race. They are DMing friends and chasing down people who need to verify their IDs. My story (gift link) on the phenomenon: wapo.st/4AbqTpg

James Talarico welcomes Mark Cuban into his political movement on the condition that wealthy supporters accept higher taxes and less influence over politics “They used their wealth to help working people. And not just through charity, but by changing the systems that make charity necessary.” “Mark, I've told every wealthy person I come across in this race, if you are okay with getting taxed more, if you're okay with me limiting your influence in politics, you are welcome to join this movement that we are building.” “And I know my next dollar isn't going to change my life, but it can sure change a lot of other people's lives. And that's the way I try to live.” w/ @jamestalarico @mcuban

After days of reading assessments of why Florida didn’t turn blue, and while teaching a graduate class analyzing electoral dynamics, a few things are clear. Florida had an incredibly strong, diverse slate of Democratic candidates. And we’ve had outstanding candidates for years. But you can have the BEST candidate for the moment and still face nearly impossible odds when the political infrastructure is broken. No sustained voter registration program, no serious statewide turnout operation, little investment, and no united coalition of elected Democrats supporting those willing to run. Add voter suppression laws and partisan election officials, and the obstacles are enormous. Georgia and Texas didn’t become competitive overnight. It took YEARS of organizing, investment, and national attention. Let’s recognize the extraordinary people who step up to run under these conditions. Every candidate, win or lose, builds the foundation for the next. Many of us, people you don’t know or hear about, have been quietly building that strategy behind the scenes. But it has to be better coordinated. 2028 is an enormous opportunity for Florida. But winning requires more than great candidates. It requires building the political infrastructure to get them across the finish line. We can do this, but we need to think bigger, learn from GA and TX, and work together. news.wfsu.org/state-news/202…

We talked to rural Texans, gave them permission to vote for @GinaHinojosaTX and we saved our public schools. We sent these permission slip postcards out to our neighbors in rural counties. Abbott had it all wrong. We begged them not to abandon rural communities and they did it anyway. They were arrogant, they were greedy and they were mean — they lost us and they lost the election because of it. #txlege

France is so much further to the right than a lot of people realize I wanted to hold my French partner’s hand in public while we were in Paris (we’re queer). She said, “You won’t like it. You’ll see.” People insulted us, shoulder-checked us, one person spit. I lasted a day

Unsolicited advice to all the Democrats who won tough seats this week across the country: have the best possible constituent service operation you can. I won and flipped my first state house district in 2016 by 323 votes the same night that Trump won my seat by 12 points. My team was relentless in solving constituent cases because I believe that we can connect with residents regardless of party in this way. We still work this hard at casework. The proof it works?
