Wandsworth Tories have scrapped Free Bulky Waste collections.
From today there are no more bookings!
Under Labour every household got two Free Bulky Waste collections a year. Threre were more than 20,000 collections which helped to cut fly tipping by 20%
Could this be the end of the ICC? I hope they find a way to uphold justice without folding.
Bulk of US sanctions designed to immobilise the international criminal court bite in April next year giving time for the ICC in theory to impose the changes US demands, including drop Netanyahu case, and provide blanket immunity to nationals of non-member states. Afghanistan probe already largely excludes Americans. Japan has said it will talk to the US, but in difficulty since current ICC Prosecutor is Japanese. Cripppling individual sanctions on 13 ICC Judges and prosecutors already in place.
The power of the dollar Part 98.

Under Labour Wandsworth had Britain’s lowest Council Tax.
Tonight Wandsworth Conservatives announced Britain’s biggest ever Council Tax rise - they will double it.

When economic action was taken against Apartheid South Africa, Apartheid sympathisers disingeously argued sanctions would 'harm black South Africans'.
Sad to see these debunked arguments recycled by Conservative front bench to defend inaction against the occupation of Palestine

Congratulations to Shirin Georgiani, new Labour councillor for Trinity ward.
Residents voted for a great local champion, supported by the wonderful @DrRosena.
Voters are clear: the Tories need to scrap their plans to double Council Tax

How sad to hear Dolly Parton has died. An incredible talent - with a heart of gold.
She overcame poverty & never forgot how not being able to read held back her father.
❤️ Thanks to Dolly, every child in Wandsworth gets a free book every month from birth to their 5th birthday

The Wandworth Tories are making increasingly weird attacks - as they try to justify their awful plan to double your Council Tax.
I’m now accused of spending £600 on personalised greeting cards while leader of the council.
I admit it. It’s true. Each Friday I would set aside time to write notes to thank people for their contribution to Wandsworth.
Local charity volunteers, proud headteachers, council staff who went above and beyond, victims of crime, re-opening restaurants, care leavers, newly qualified apprentices & residents who had shared robust feedback.
(Here’s the card I sent Frank Bruno after his knockout appearance at the Town Hall.)
Something about a hand-written note really connects with people. It was lovely to see just how many people wrote straight back.
A few hundred people in all got cards from me. I also aimed to hand out my business card to half a dozen residents I met each week.
Not much in itself. But over time it adds up. After four years as leader, it meant more than 1,000 people had been given my email address and phone number.
It was really valuable for people to get in touch directly when there was a concern in their street, a problem with parking or we had missed the bins.
So it’s worth thinking twice when you see attacks on “extravagant” council spending like “£600 on thank you cards”.
Wandsworth council spends hundreds of millions of pounds of your money each year.
Local people are clear they want councillors to work hard to keep top class services with affordable Council Tax.
It is foolish to think the fair way forward is to double Council Tax - or to stop saying “thank you” to local people
Leader of @WandsworthLab treat Council finances like fun and games. But then again he spent £600 on personalised greeting cards, so is anyone surprised?

The Israeli Government’s launch of tenders for the E1 settlement project is unacceptable and destructive. Britain will not stand back and accept the destruction of the two state solution. My statement:

I recently joined more than 100 parliamentarians in writing to the Foreign Secretary, urging the Government to stop the so-called "Great Israeli Real Estate Event" from taking place in London.
Despite those warnings - and despite serious concerns that allowing the event to proceed could place the UK in breach of its own obligations under international law - the event was allowed to go ahead. That is deeply wrong.
An event facilitating the sale of property in Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory should never have been allowed to take place on UK soil.
While ministers claim to oppose illegal settlements, their words mean little if they are unwilling to act when those settlements are being sold in London.

having to force yourself to drink water because it's "important" to "stay hydrated" is such a scam

Great that @superdrug has stopped selling Ahava cosmetics from illegal settlements. But settlement trade should be banned by the UK government. With my comments here. Thanks to @taaffems for covering the story news.sky.com/story/superdrug…

🚨🚨🚨EXCL Catherine West speaks to the New Statesman about her leadership bid, including:
Party leadership begged her to delay this move until Tuesday, after the PM’s reset speech
On triggering a contest: “I haven't actually even looked at the rules because I don't actually want to do this”
She says she has been “inundated” with support from MPs but “I haven't actually looked at who they are”
Dismisses anger from leadership camps that were blindsided: “some people will be upset with me because of the risk, because some of them had a plan about, you know, in six months time, we're gonna do this, and then we're gonna do that. Sorry, that's just too late.”
Says Andy Burnham cannot be PM: “I'm sorry for people who had a big plan about particular candidates who one day will be, you know, an MP and all that sort of thing… I really like Andy, but he's not here on the spot, so he can't really do it”
She says she is both a “lone wolf” and a “stalking horse” but that: “You know what sometimes happens to stalking horses? They become the candidate”
She will not back down until other candidates publicly announce - not private assurances or backroom deals: “They've got to be open, they need to be upfront like me.”
Thinks next PM could be an unknown MP and even one from the 2024 intake - thinks her shock move could trigger a more interesting contest
A friend losing her council seat was part of her reason for going now

This is the most insane and absurd definition of an ‘imminent threat’ I have ever heard in my life. Our ally and proxy, Israel, that we arm and fund, was about to illegally attack Iran so we joined in the attack because that illegal attack would have led to an attack on us
