40 years ago, the Breeders' Cup Classic belonged to this handsome horse.
The Michael Whittingham-trained SKYWALKER won the 1986 Breeders' Cup Classic, paying $22.20, 5.80, 3.40. Turkoman (1.60-1) was second, Precisionist (1.70-1) third.

First and foremost we are a hospital here 🏥, tending to all kinds of physical issues affecting our equine athletes. However, we also have the ability to provide some 'mental health' relief (having 300-acres of rolling pasture) and the value of providing a "freshening" for our racehorse population cannot be overemphasized. It is particularly gratifying to see some of our "vacay" patients, having left refreshed and ready for competition, go on and excel! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻These 2 lovely fillies were a pleasure to care for and both won important NY-bred Stake races @TheNYRA today - well done! 👏

Perennial leading sire Medaglia d'Oro passed away Friday at Jonabell Farm at the age of 27.
The sire of 31 Grade I winners and 101 graded stakes winners, his top progeny include Eclipse champions Rachel Alexandra, Songbird, and Nitrogen as well as three-time Hong Kong Horse of the Year Golden Sixty.

The @TeamValor International homebred delivered a jaw-dropping victory following a less-than-ideal trip in Saturday’s GI Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park.
“You never really know how good they are until they step up, and he stepped up,” said trainer Shug McGaughey. “It’s going to be exciting for us, as long as everything stays the same, to go through the winter and see where it takes us.”
The 2-year-old War of Will colt was crowned a ‘TDN Rising Star’ following a daylight maiden win with a division-leading 105 Beyer Speed Figure at second asking going seven furlongs at Saratoga Sept. 5.
Connections announced Sunday that U. S. S. Valor will bypass the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and instead focus on preparing for a 3-year-old campaign in 2027 as they plot a path to next year’s GI Kentucky Derby.
U. S. S. Valor, who holds a record of 2-0-1 from three career starts, will spend the winter at McGaughey’s Florida base at Payson Park.
