New in #JNeurosci: Trying hard may improve memory! @SarahMaster17 @lindromat & Clayton Curtis @NYUPsych find that effort-related neural signals shape memory-related neural signals. jneurosci.org/lookup/DOI/10.…
Before 2023 is over, here's another new preprint from me! In it, we attempt to elucidate the neural mechanisms of cognitive effort exertion on a working memory task.

I have to acknowledge my amazing co-author @lindromat, who contributed a really cool analysis linking whole-brain delay period activity to decoding from visual cortex.

Happy to share that our preprint titled “Policy abstraction as a predictor of cognitive effort” with @jordan_rubimac & @badrelab is out! In this work, we establish a performance-independent task feature that is predictive of cognitive effort avoidance psyarxiv.com/by7gk/ 1/15

In this work, we use a novel task & computational model to perform cost decomposition on the N-back, revealing what makes it so subjectively costly for subjects to perform!

New preprint with @milenamr7 and @Anne_On_Tw showing that age differences in learning were largely attributable to changes in a working memory system that was associated with levels of prefrontal glutamate! Congrats!!🎉

Curtis lab new preprint. We studied the dynamics of spatial working memory in a classical memory-guided saccade task. With fMRI, we observed changes of WM representations reflecting the difference between sensory-driven response & memory maintenance. [1/2]
