The site, which once belonged to the Chattahoochee Brick Company, used Georgia inmates as laborers. Leased through a state-run system operated from the 1860s until the early 1900s, inmates suffered and some even died on the job from abuse or lack of care. ajc.com/news/atlanta-news/br…
