Here is the radar estimated rainfall across Iowa since the morning of July 2nd. The heaviest rainfall was near Ames to Ankeny where estimated 8-12 inches of rainfall occurred. Note, in some areas, the radar estimates were underdone. #iawx

A quick half-foot of snow on campus late yesterday has Ames nearing half of its typical full-season snow amount in just two weeks.
Ames averages 32" of snow per season, and we sit at 15.2" since November 1st.

Only to be topped by the flooding rains of 1993, when the Iowa State Center was mostly underwater.
We have almost completed our entire year's worth of rainfall in just 7 months 🤯

Holy rain!
After the latest heavy rainfall, we are now over 5" above normal for July.
The South Skunk River sits at 17' this morning (action stage is 19').
On the year, we have nearly topped 30" (avg. for the entire year is 36" 😳)

BREAKING: A Flood Watch has been issued for @IowaStateU from 7 PM Thursday through 7 AM Friday for potential flooding from excessive rainfall tonight.

A potentially historic blizzard set-up in NW Iowa tomorrow. Very high winds, lots of precip, & high snowfall rates will cause chaos on the roads.

All of the more than 600 combined employees at the National Animal Disease Center and the National Energy and Environmental Lab have vanished from USDA directory pages. Logan Conner is a 2024 ISU graduate and began as an agricultural science research technician for the USDA in December. It takes experiments in many places to understand corn. But distant experiments usually get less attention. That’s why I’m excited about satellites. @NikeeShrestha2 lead this @AII4RA project to phenotype individual corn hybrid yield plots at 5 sites spanning 725 miles (1,200 km).
