Fox: Why are you here this morning? Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

Universal exec Donna Langley reveals Christopher Nolan makes her read his scripts alone on his couch, with no warning about what she’s about to read and admits the process terrifies her. Interviewer: “At the very beginning of the process of The Odyssey, I understand that you went over to Nolan’s house and read through the entire script with him and his partner Emma. Is this an industry standard?” Donna Langley: “No, that’s quite unusual.” Interviewer: “Tell me about it.” Donna Langley: “It’s terrifying.” Interviewer: “You’re terrified?” Donna Langley: “Of course. I’m terrified.” The Universal executive explained that Nolan invited her to his home to read the scripts for both The Odyssey and Oppenheimer. But he wouldn’t tell her what she was about to read beforehand. Donna Langley: “I went by myself on both occasions. And I didn’t know what I was going to read because he doesn’t say ahead of time.” She arrives, sits on Nolan’s library couch, receives the script, and gets left alone for a couple of hours to read it. Interviewer: “And they leave you to it, with a cup of tea.” Donna Langley: “With a cup of tea. Exactly. Exactly.” “It feels very old school. And it’s very intentional. And it makes you pay attention.” “It’s slightly intimidating, but I think in the best way possible. It makes me feel very alive.” The interviewer then asked whether she was worried about reading a script she didn’t like and having to tell Nolan. Donna Langley: “The scripts are so good. I’m not afraid of being able to converse afterwards. Because there’s so much to talk about and they were each brilliant.” “I’m walking in blind to a situation like that. It’s exhilarating and intimidating all at the same time in the best way.”

Abdul El-Sayed: “We are being actively bullied by the dumbest people in the room. Donald Trump is an idiot. He has one genius which is getting attention. Because his dad never gave him enough, because he was a nepo baby, he craved attention and used the bullying tactics to get it. But the man is an idiot. Just a fool”

You've got to watch this whole thing. Generational talent. I've only ever seen this once before.

Netflix is evolving right before our eyes. Mass layoffs, including top executives. Yes, a company obsessed with algorithms, data and AI is downsizing, while suddenly and without warning, reporting theatrical box office numbers. This is a larger tell than you think. Perhaps Netflix is discovering something Hollywood has known for a century… technology can predict behavior, but it can’t manufacture cultural relevance. That’s theatrical. Always has been. And they’re finally acknowledging that. Ironic because Netflix spent two decades convincing Hollywood that the theatrical model was becoming obsolete… and now it’s experimenting with the very system it helped undermine.

In his book Collapse, Jared Diamond studied a dozen societies across thousands of years, from the Maya to the Vikings, to answer one question: why do great civilizations fall? What he found wasn't drought, war or bad luck. None of those were ever enough on their own. The one thing present in every collapse was how the people at the top responded to what was happening below them. The warning sign he found again and again was leaders who were completely insulated from the pain of ordinary people. When the powerful never feel the consequences, they stop seeing the problem, and when they stop seeing it, they stop fixing it. The Maya kings kept enriching themselves and building monuments while the farmers who fed them went hungry. Their civilization didn't fall because of one bad year. It fell because the people in charge had stopped living in the same world as everyone else. Diamond called them "distant managers." They are the people in power who live so far from the damage that they are the last to understand how bad it has gotten. By the time they notice, the fields are already empty. His most important finding was that collapse is a choice. Every society that fell had leaders who could have changed course and chose not to. The question for us is whether we will keep letting people who can't see us make that choice for us. Because we are there folks.

“So the bottom line is Trump doesn’t do the show anymore.” “Yeah.” That time Dave Letterman said Trump stopped doing the show unless he apologized for calling Trump “racist” — and Dave wouldn’t do it.

This story needs to blow the fuck UP. 😡
France and Ukraine fed Trump false intelligence to test whether he would leak it to Putin—and he did.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Ukrainian officials rejected this claim when it was first made in January, as did the source of the rumour. No evidence to support the claim has since emerged. kyivpost.com/post/68368 leadstories.com/hoax-alert/202… snopes.com/news/2026/01/1… news.meaww.com/fact-check-did… The Trump administration shares intelligence with Ukraine, not Russia. reuters.com/world/europe/u… politico.com/news/2026/08/0…

Craig doing an American accent while Jolie does a British one really twists my melon.
I never quite understood the initial hate around Daniel Craig being James Bond. Case in point: Here’s an early Daniel Craig (pre-Bond) looking and acting exactly like Bond. Also the Daniel Craig/Tomb Raider cross over goes so hard.

The White House media ban reminds me of the Teddy Roosevelt quote: “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

People keep saying Trump term II is the most corrupt administration ever, so I built a model to find out if it was true. I took the UN's definition of corruption, turned it into eight criteria and 100 points, and scored the leaders history remembers for looting their countries: Marcos, Suharto, Mobutu, Abacha, Obiang, Putin. Then I put every president since Eisenhower on the same scale, both parties, with every exoneration counted right alongside the convictions. Nixon scored 41 and no other American President scored over a 25. Trump's second term scored a 91, which ties him with Suharto and Mobutu and puts him above Marcos and Abacha. So he is not only the most corrupt president in American history. At this pace he finishes his term level with the most corrupt rulers of the last hundred years. PSA: don't come in my comments arguing about the results if you haven't read the full article, because ignorance is a choice. Full article is up now on my Substack (link in bio) and it's free.
