@SeaChoice , a Canadian environmental advocacy group, published a report on the failure of major Canadian retailers to address the risk of human rights abuses in their supply chains, citing the Outlaw Ocean Project investigation. Many of the retailers addressed in the report had their seafood supply chains connected back to Chinese seafood companies and ships with a track record of environmental and human rights concerns in the Outlaw Ocean Project's China series. SeaChoice has also launched a campaign to urge major Canadian grocers to do their due diligence to keep products tied to human rights and environmental crimes off their shelves. seachoice.org/wp-content/upl…

The Outlaw Ocean returns today. In season two, we shed light on the secretive Libyan prisons swallowing up seafaring migrants; flagrant human rights abuses in China’s massive off-shore fleet; the horrors of a shrimp processing plant in India; and the wild story of a modern-day James Bond - if he were a ship repo man.

.@SeaChoice, a Canadian environmental advocacy group, published an article discussing the demand from consumers for major retailers to address human rights abuses in their seafood supply chains, following the OO exposés that linked tainted seafood to products sold in North America. SeaChoice mobilized nearly 5,000 consumers to send letters to retailers like Walmart and Costco, urging them to take responsibility for the seafood they sell. The article also criticized the Canadian government for its lack of action, especially as the U.S. began banning imports from implicated companies. cdn.theoutlawocean.com/inves…
