£46m seemed a lot for a teenage centre-back with no Premier League experience. In pursuing Luka Vuskovic, Brighton knew what they were doing. As usual. Masters of recruitment, got all that A-grade Jamestown Analytics data, all that experience, expertise and contacts to check on character.  Vuskovic had excelled on loan from Spurs at Hamburg. Scoring as well as showing his defensive class. So many attributes: distribution, aerial dominance, physique, strength in one-on-one duels, mindset, a natural leader. Still only 19, still occasional blips for the Croatian international (Bellingham ran off him to score in Dallas. 7-0 England in Rijeka), still developing but what a future in store. Vuskovic will get only better and better under the inspirational Fabian Hurzeler and in this super-positive Brighton team. Another win for Brighton, another Vuskovictory.
