Lifelong Republican from a small town in deep red western Maine: It's time for Susan Collins to go.

From picking potatoes as a child in Caribou to working on behalf of Maine’s communities, small businesses, and first responders, I have always been proud of my Aroostook County roots and the strong work ethic they instilled in me. I will never stop showing up and working hard for the people of Maine.

The sad fact about this story is that there are a lot of people in DC who will read this and simply shrug and say, “it’s just the way Washington has worked for decades.” And I’m sure senators (who should be quaking about a story like this) have instead convinced themselves that this isn’t even illegal and if it is, it will take years (or never) for law enforcement to build a case. The swamp is a real thing, this admin didn’t drain it, they monetized it. There’s an extra layer of rot in this town at the moment and everyone who has lived and worked here for a while knows it.
New: In late 2024, FBI investigators had enough evidence to launch a sweeping bribery probe that could ensnare top lawmakers, including Sen. Susan Collins. Then Trump was reelected and eviscerated the FBI and DOJ teams handling public corruption probes. propub.li/4yLLwaF

Great piece from O'Brien -- maybe the best ME-SEN reporting of the cycle! -- cuz it's as simple/straightforward as it is scathing.
Also speaks to Maine legacy media's abject failure to provide readers the basic info they deserve. #MEpolitics @BenKail @aseitzwald @randybillings

Good news! Last November, we learned how much Mainers care about our right to vote absentee when we overwhelmingly voted to protect those rights in huge numbers! Now, let's use it! Request your absentee ballot today at absenteeballotrequest.sos.ma… !

This is what happens when we come together to use our collective power and demand action. I'm proud of the Maine State Nurses Association, and all of us, who are fighting every day against this racist administration.
Welcome home Debora.

Lee Zeldin clearly doesn't like being called out.
In Congress, he was part of the bipartisan PFAS Task Force. Now, as Trump's EPA Administrator, he's rejecting his own agency's science, dodging basic questions, and abandoning farmers whose lives have been destroyed by PFAS contamination.
Kudos to @lisa_fletch for refusing to let him change the subject and holding his feet to the fire.
There's nothing "hypothetical" or "hilarious” about losing your farm, euthanizing your herd, or wondering whether your family's land has been permanently contaminated. Maine farmers know that better than anyone.
We wanted to talk to @epaleezeldin about the concerns of farmers we've talked to re PFAS in human waste, applied on millions of acres of farm land. He didn't want to talk about that. @7NewsDC @ewg @chelliepingree @zenhoneycutt @Mission503USA @Mamavation

The countries that excel at soccer treat youth sports like a public good. America is a business, not a country. We don’t do public goods anymore. All the travel ball bullshit in baseball and soccer especially is a private equity money grab.

James Carville backs Graham Platner: “We’ve got a fucked up guy who could be 100x more fucked up than he is and he’d never be as fucked up as what we’ve got in Washington. This country is about to lose it, the whole goddamn thing. We gotta win this. If we got a person that’s understandably got issues, good. Maybe people oughta see it and maybe we oughta be reminded what these stupid wars have brought about and the consequence of said stupid wars that stupid Susan Collins’ been for all of her political life”

Graham Platner: “The anti-trans campaign in Maine is funded by an out-of-state billionaire to make sure we have this discussion and we don’t talk about raising his taxes. That’s why it exists. I think there are like two trans kids that compete in high school sports in Maine? There are 40K Mainers who are going to lose healthcare because of the lack of the ACA extension. One of those things seems very important and real to me. One of them seems like an invented culture war scare to keep people divided”
