255 hours on the Whirlpool Galaxy collab with 15 other astrophotographers. The longest integration ever done on this target.

The #JWST team at STScI created a new documentation page to bring together all our current known issues with data products, workarounds, and what we’re doing to address them. Check it out: jwst-docs.stsci.edu/jwst-cal…

happy 30-50 feral hogs day to all who celebrate

Legit question for rural Americans - How do I kill the 30-50 feral hogs that run into my yard within 3-5 mins while my small kids play?

My first JWST paper is out on the arxiv!
Thanks @JustTheLetterU for using your fantastic summarizing skills on this thread.
Turns out it's Double #GOALSJWST week! @UCIPhysAstro postdoc @marinavbianchin found what appears to be consistent with inflowing gas as evidence of self-regulating feeding-feedback process in the heart of NGC 7469 using JWST NIRspec data! 1/4

the year is 2038. lk-99 has revolutionized computing, energy production, and battery manufacturing. the average website takes 10 seconds to load 500MB of javascript and a typical laptop draws a kilowatt of energy for a battery life of about 6 hours. there is still no new housing

Been missing #jwstgoals results? Our team's been working hard on the rest of our ERS & Cyc1 data; the 1st of our new batch of papers is on arxiv today! @thomaslai226 led the work on analyzing NIRSpec data of NGC7469, focusing on 3.3um PAH...

This point from @chrislintott is one of my absolute favorite parts of @NANOGrav's work — can you imagine calling up JPL and being like, 'Yo we don't think you know where all the planets actually are"...?!
Replying to @chrislintott @NANOGrav
This is a staggeringly difficult measurement - requiring, amongst much else, knowing the position of the centre of mass of the solar system to a precision of less than 100m. Previous results were confused because we didn't know where Jupiter was accurately enough (5/n)

The rather tepid reception of Jokic averaging a triple double in the playoffs and winning a championship shows how full of shit American sports fans are when they say they want a "humble, come to work everyday" kind of super star.

Also a reminder that the supernova that flashed "today" in M101 in fact went boom at the ~beginning of the Miocene period ~20 million years ago, before the North and South American continents were connected by land.

The legendary Koichi Itagaki, using his small observatory in Yamagata, has found yet another supernova, this time in M101.
