Hostile drone activity is increasing across Europe.
With an additional €130 million under the BMVI combined with European defence programmes and investments, @EU_Commission strengthens Europe’s ability to detect, deter and respond to evolving threats.

Did a quick write up of the Starship Flight 14. Theres going to me more details of where this fits into the bigger picture coming on my newsletter in the next few days.
Needless to say, I'm pretty pleased with how it went. Congratulations to everyone at SpaceX!

I was born under a military dictatorship. People close to my family were kidnapped and tortured because of their political views.
That doesn’t make today’s Britain comparable to where I was born. But it taught me a simple principle: never normalise intimidation because you dislike someone’s politics. Democratic rights only mean something if they apply to people you disagree with.
Germany is deciding whether a power station may shoot down a drone itself.
The authority to act is the visible question. The authority to see, beyond your own fence, is the one that decides whether the first is usable.
Authorise an intervention and detection stops being monitoring. It becomes evidence. You cannot defend an action against a track you cannot produce.
I build radar for low-altitude airspace. Most sites about to be handed this power cannot produce that record today.
Liability is not the obstacle. The missing evidence layer is.
On 11 September 2001, 2,977 people were murdered in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.
We remember the victims, the families who still carry that loss, and the first responders who ran toward the fire.
Never forget 🙌

It's that time of the week again as @danbowyer @madsnjensen, Priyanka and I dig into the tech headlines and pontificate on the pending demise of @Apple ;)

Lithuania is buying an integrated national air picture for about five million euros. That number tells you it is an integration contract, not a sensor contract.
Fusing the feeds you already have gives you a better view of what those sensors already see.
It does not give you a view of what none of them see.
Air defence is starting to be sold as a subscription, not as equipment.
That moves the performance risk to the vendor for the life of the contract. Which means somebody has to prove, continuously, that the airspace is actually being held.
You cannot bill against a video for five years.
The evidence layer stops being a nice-to-have the moment it becomes the invoice.
German reporting says the drone recovered at Leipzig/Halle carried a 5G router and two SIM cards.
RF detection listens for a control link on bands it knows. Put that link on a mobile network and the layer does not degrade. It goes to zero. It was never watching the object.
Very few people combine Jackson’s level of talent and intensity with being this approachable, generous, kind and genuinely humble. Completely locked in, and one of the very best in the space. V happy to see him succeed 🙌
It was special to announce @SilentVentures' partnership with Brian Singerman's GPx last week. What was equally special and far more sentimental were the 100s of text messages, comments, tweets, emails, and calls I received from founders, investors, and allocators. 10+ years in the making... to know we did it right and that those I most respect feel the same means the world to me, especially my fellow builders.
I'd be remiss not to call out some of the other incredible institutional LPs who chose Silent Ventures for their early stage defense and deep tech exposure. We're incredibly fortunate to count foundations, endowments, defense conglomerates, and select FoFs and FOs as long-term partners to the Silent ecosystem. A handful includes the good people at MIT Investment Management Company, Hanwha Asset Management, Grafton Street Partners, and founders from @anduriltech and @ereborbank.

$40M STRATFI. A major milestone for @ThinkOrbital !
Huge congratulations to Lee Rosen, Vojtech Holub, Nicholas Francoeur, Dakota Labine and the entire ThinkOrbital team.
Beyond the number, this is significant validation of the need for large-scale infrastructure and servicing capabilities in orbit — and of the technology the team has been building to make that possible.
Great to see years of work reaching this point.

“The West's interceptor problem, cheap offense against expensive defense, is at root a problem of prediction under uncertainty.”
“Defense abundance isn't limited to America. We're increasingly convinced that the allied European rearmament cycle is real, structural, and mispriced by American investors trained by 20 years of disappointment to disbelieve it. It's likely a decade-long capital formation and deployment opportunity.”
