On this day in 1806, Napoleon Bonaparte marches his triumphant army through the streets of Berlin after a stunning 19-day campaign against Prussia. The French victory two weeks earlier at the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt seals the German kingdom's fate.
I think he was an extraordinary man who achieved remarkable military exploits.
He also created the Napoleon Code which has shaped the legal civil framework of most European countries.

🚨 Bonne nouvelle ! Le pronostic vital de Ramatou, 12 ans, touchée par plusieurs balles lors de l'attentat raciste de Trappes, ne serait plus engagé.
Il y a trois jours, la jeune fille avait été grièvement blessée et transportée en urgence à l'hôpital Necker à Paris, où elle avait été opérée.
Ce week-end, le maire de La Verrière a pu échanger avec sa mère et a donné des nouvelles rassurantes : Ramatou "va mieux". Le chemin reste encore long, mais c'est enfin une lueur d'espoir pour sa famille et ses proches. Bon rétablissement à elle. ❤️🩹 (via France Info)

King Æthelstan – The First King of England 🏴
On this day, 27th October 939, King Æthelstan died at Gloucester. Grandson of Alfred the Great. Unifier of England. The first king to rule all the English under one crown.
Before Æthelstan, England was a land of rival kingdoms, divided by centuries of warfare and Viking conquest. In 927, he brought Northumbria under his rule, uniting the English kingdoms and laying the foundations of a united England. In 937, at the Battle of Brunanburh, he crushed a powerful alliance of Scots, Vikings and Britons, securing his kingdom against those who sought to tear it apart.
A Christian king, Æthelstan strengthened the Church, upheld the law and demanded loyalty, discipline and duty from those he governed. His reign established England as one of the great powers of early medieval Europe.
Yet Æthelstan is too often forgotten. He was the king who united England, defended its independence and secured the inheritance of generations to come. A king who built rather than destroyed. Who united rather than divided. Who put his kingdom before himself.
Remember Æthelstan today. Remember the men who built England, defended her and handed her down to us. Remember what it means to be English. 🏴
