Code-execution flaw in UEFI firmware threatens most servers on planet Earth arstechnica.com/security/202…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The vulnerability (CVE-2026-97631) only affects systems actively PXE network-booting using vulnerable EDK2 firmware; it requires sending malicious ICMP packets during that window and does not impact systems booting from local disks or with PXE disabled. github.com/tianocore/edk2… arstechnica.com/security/2026/…

Any feature reason why docker is more popular than podman? The "no daemon present" savings in ram have to be worth something?

this is almost certainly nothing. they ask qwen to do a curl task with no information about who is running it. qwen defaults to assuming it's running on alibaba infra, so uses an alibaba test url checking resolv.conf is a chinese dev habit, for GFW reasons. there was no exfil!
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report: cohere.com/blog/concerning-b…

It’s worthwhile to play through in your mind the kinds of motivated reasoning and self-deception that might have led academics to work on this project. It’ll help you understand better what’s going on at AGI companies.
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

we've been living in a digital pigsty, a world of security by scarcity that got activists and journalists surveilled and killed using 0days in human code. we're going to finally purge 50 years of accumulated tech debt and complete the project of 90s cyberidealism.

Weird how they’ve found so many amazing things and yet not one single result related to practical cryptanalysis. I guess everyone should pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

look i have no proof and its just my opinion, but I think they just cooked synth environments a bit too hard 😂 not good since model is misaligned, but the espionage hypothesis seems far-fetched

This weird qwen behavior is going to go viral because no one has read traces from mid-tier open models and realized they're almost all super janky.

This is the type of thing that potentially gets new laws passed.

fastest drone youtube video designs are now scaled and field deployed
Ukrainian manufacturer PUF (Persha Universalna Firma), based in Chernihiv, has launched Ban-One, a high-speed air-defense interceptor designed to counter UAVs, Militarnyi reported. According to the company, the drone can engage targets at 190–345 kilometres per hour (118–214 miles per hour), with a peak speed of 370 kilometres per hour (230 miles per hour). It is designed to destroy rotary-wing and fixed-wing UAVs and has successfully hunted Shahed-type drones, remaining effective at altitudes of several kilometres. The modular airframe supports analog or digital links, various cameras, and warheads of different sizes, with a maximum payload of 400 grams (0.88 pounds). The fiberglass frame and 8S3P battery are intended to support high-thrust operations. Ban-One includes an in-house ground control station and has completed NATO codification with an NSN. It can already be ordered and will soon appear on Brave1 Market. The figures remain company claims that have not been independently verified. #Ukraine #PUF #BanOne #InterceptorDrone #CounterUAS #DroneWars

Full on crisis underway in Israel as the military is pushing back on a Netanyahu order re Iran

Gated DeltaNet-2 (GDN-2) is powering memory-native models!🎉🚀 MemT-1.0 builds GDN-2 into its compute for stable token-level memory updates within each turn, giving 66x smaller persistent storage at 128K context.
MemT-1.0: Towards Memory-Native Evolution At 128K context, MemT-1.0-Nano speeds inference up by about 1.86x and cuts persistent storage 66x versus a full KV cache, outperforming parametric memory baselines while largely preserving general capabilities. arxivb.org/abs/2610.26825

The lesson from Lula winning (after Bolsonaro was priced ~82%) is that prediction markets are just a function of polls—which are increasingly unreliable. There’s no signal from betting odds… just more opportunity to speculate. Expect a lot of “surprises” during midterms.

Americans, how come Miami is full of Hispanics and yet seems to be a very nice place, while LA, which is also full of Hispanics, seems like a bad place specifically because of the demographics? Are Cubans so much a superior breed to Mexicans?
