Happy Canada Day! A special year for me this year. 📷 COM_VID_Sen-Cardozo-Canada-Day_2024-06-04_E_Final.mp4

Over the last 8 years the @SenateCA has been hugely reformed, which is not well understood. Over 80% of sens are now independent. Bill C-234 puts the Upper House in the eye of the storm. This is how I see the New Senate doing its job. bit.ly/3GaHCPp

What defines an independent? I talked about this in the Senate. A few things: I don't belong to a political party, no party tells me how to vote or tells me what to say or not say, See the full statement here: theprogressives.ca/in-the-se…

Nine years ago Corporal Nathan Cirillo was assassinated as he stood guard at the Cenotaph. Ottawa grew up that day, and not in a nice way. "Forevermore he shall stand sentry on guard for Canada".

Good to see Premiers & CFIB asking the feds to extend deadline for small business loans payback from Covid days. They need to be fair: ask all fed party leaders to support them, & endorse deficit spending to do this if need be. No place for duplicity. #cdnpoli #SmallBusiness

Cdn Multiculturalism Policy estab 52 yrs ago, by PM P. Trudeau (&Act 1988 by PM Mulroney). In the #Charter too. Needed more today than ever as #polarization grows.//La politique cdne multiculturalisme a été établie il y a 52 ans. Plus que jamais nécessaire aujourd'hui. #cdnpoli

The next time you go the doctor & it's free, remember the great Monique Bégin, who brought in the Canada Health Act, the next step to Pearson's Medicare (which was more focused on hospital care). Truly an icon who defined what is now a basic Canadian value. #healthcare #cdnpoli

Peter C. Newman a notable Cdn chronicler, columnist, popular historian, editor. "The Canadian Establishment" was a must read in my univ days. He took on the elites, sometimes fairly, sometimes not, and in so doing became a key member of the Cdn elite. A storied life.

Salute to @RaymondMoriyama, one of the great Cdn architects. His ouevres included War Museum (below), Toronto Ref Library, Scarborough City Centre. Interned in his youth for being Japanese-Canadian he rose to serve his country with distinction. #canadianarchtecture #warmuseum

J'ai pris la parole au cours de la période des questions pour demander s'il était possible de travailler en collaboration pour trouver des solutions à certains des problèmes urgents auxquels le gouvernement est confronté. youtu.be/Vus9IqM66Qc via @YouTube

Today, I rose during Question Period to ask about working collaboratively on solutions on some of the pressing issues this government faces. youtu.be/NR3UqmP0sfg via @YouTube

I asked the government if they will lead a national discussion on the future of remote work across the economy. youtu.be/UehOnryQw98

Needed to speak up on the future of Wellington Street. We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to do something amazing there and instead of cars and buses keep it open to people, local and tourist. youtu.be/7HokW_nwd3Q via @YouTube
