I can confirm. We at Metro have implemented and seen with our own eyes how you can increase page views and decrease the story count. In this day and age, more stories absolutely does not equal more page views. You have to write smarter, not harder.

I deeply admired the amazing work he did with the Ukraine: The Latest podcast and watched proudly as it became a success. I can only say that my thoughts are very much with all his family, friends and colleagues as I know he will be missed dearly.
I will always remember his kindness and intelligence, which made him a compassionate, brilliant journalist and wonderful person to know. We always supported each other in our careers over the years, even when we competed for freelancers (he would always hire them before I could!)
I barely have the words. David Knowles and I had known each other since our City days and were at one point quite close. So sad and shocked to hear about his passing.
