I remember when Elon was busy rigging the last election, my feed which is normally vrchat content was just a back to back streamline of police brutality content or just straight street fight curb stomping. People who eat a specific wild mushroom see masses of tiny people — scientists have finally pinned down what it is. In parts of Yunnan, China, and the northern Philippines, people have long told of a mushroom that makes them see dozens to hundreds of little figures, often just a few inches tall and frequently described as elves or fairies. Mycologists Colin Domnauer and Bryn Dentinger at the University of Utah collected specimens, interviewed locals and analyzed the DNA of 53 samples. The local mushrooms, called Jian shou qing in China and Sedesdem in the Philippines, turned out to be the same species: Lanmaoa asiatica. The bigger mystery is what causes the visions.
