It is so very telling when people take issue with a person talking about antisemitism. It says more about their bigotry than anything else.

I’m not surprised to see Macklemore wearing a ‘Free Marwan’ top in London on the last night of his tour. Human rights warrior except for those murdered by his Palestinian terrorist hero. Killing Jews is all very trendy and normal now. Our society has a sickness.

The crazy part is we didn't even need a report to know any of this. It's happening quite openly right in front of our eyes.
New wave of Australian antisemitism comes from progressive social justice critics, report says.

All the things that this article mentions - and to be fair it is a good comprehensive article - are happening in NZ too (with the obvious and very important exception of the Bondi attack).
The last week has seen a real and frightening escalation in inflammatory rhetoric and threats against the Jewish community in NZ, which is why the police put out its statement yesterday and the Race Relations Commissioner one today.
And here are some of the things that “progressives” do when we raise these issues:
- hold us collectively responsible for what they imagine (yes, imagine in their deluded minds) Israel to be doing with the logical fallacy of “well people have it worse in Gaza”
- pass off blatant Jewhatred as “criticism of Israel/Zionism” (such as celebrating October 7 or smearing Jewish community members in NZ with classic tropes)
- by extension tell you they know better what Jewhatred is and isn’t and suggest that our accusations are made in bad faith
- take delight in gaslighting, trolling and baiting us
- expect us to “turn out our pockets” ie. subject ourselves to their purity tests and cross examinations, upon which our participation in public life and increasingly our safety is conditioned.
They would never do any of these things to any other minority seeking to raise awareness of the hatred they are enduring.
So in short, when we raise our concerns after we have considered very hard whether to even do so, we then prepare ourselves for at least a lack of sympathy and solidarity and often even more hostility. And it’s coming from church leaders, senior journalists, academics, teachers, artists, politicians, activists, unionists and many others in different facets of life.
But as always I am very grateful for the support we get, when even showing it is increasingly an act of courage.

A picture of me eating a schwarma in Israel has generated infinitely more outrage on Irish Twitter than a Trinity College fellow and an elected representative celebrating October 7th. Indeed, the elected representative in question was elected *after* that public celebration, wherein he described the massacre as ‘heroic’, ‘legitimate’, and ‘beautiful’.
Point proven a hundred times over. This is the dehumanising rot that has taken over a portion of Ireland.
A pro-peace individual is demonised for eating Israeli food (amongst several posts publicly expressing a need for a changed government), whereas the barbaric massacre and rape of Israelis is normalised.
Issues with our electoral system are not new.
Donations caps are such an easy step and would immediately improve the credibility and confidence in our political system.
This is a critical point
Any assessment of the amount of coverage a party gets misses something big if it doesn't also ask how many offers for comment/interviews are turned down.

Q+A has interviewed Opportunity's leader, but not National's Leader. Why? She said yes. He said no.
If we capped political donations to citizens only, at a reasonable level per year, we’d avoid these situations 👀

The way an antisemitic heckler walks out of this Jewish comedian's show when he challenges her is the whole Free Palestine movement in a nutshell.
She didn't care about defending Palestinians. She tried to make a Jew feel ashamed for existing, and when it didn't work, she just left. Good riddance.

American elections have great consequences for Iranians, but they don't get to vote.

"Why can't Palestinians vote in Israeli elections?"
Probably for the same reasons I can't vote in a Palestinian election.
Of course, neither the Gaza Strip or the West Bank have held elections for quite some time, but that's a decision made by Hamas and the PA, not Israel.

Various empires, starting with the Romans in 132 CE, used the name Palestine to describe the Jews' homeland after violently kicking them out.
For you, it's a fashion statement.
For 10 million Israelis, Jewish and Arab alike, it is a call to destroy our home.

They will settle at nothing short of the destruction of the Jewish nation.
Whatever the punditry, whatever the propaganda, whatever the election result in Israel: replacing Netanyahu with Eisenkot won’t end the occupation, apartheid or the genocide of the Palestinian people.
Both are war criminals. Both uphold a system that subjects 7 million Palestinians between the river and the sea to occupation, domination and dispossession.
Different faces, same Zionist ethnonationalist project.
I repeat once again: Zionism is racism.
This is the insanity in a nutshell.
Replying to @christianjbdev
Yup. I've had more hate for saying my 9-year-old was bullied for being Jewish than I've ever had on any post ever. It's blood lust.

The way the left has reacted to a government report into antisemitism in schools is frighteningly deranged.
They flat out refuse to see Jews as victims.
Even five-year-old kids being targeted for their religion does not engage their sympathy.
My friend @HFreemanauthor, having written about how her daughter was bullied out of school, was targeted by antisemites for 24hrs.
Have we become so dehumanised in their eyes? Have they stopped seeing us as people? Have not enough Jews been targeted?

Government review: We are seeing an alarming rise in Jewish children being racially abused and harassed at school.
The British Left: I don't believe this, how much of that abuse & harassment targeted towards children is actually just legitimate criticism of the state of Israel?

If you need to see how far the left has fallen into a sewer of antisemitism, just look how they react towards a report written on the antisemitism Jewish schoolchildren experience in British schools.
An appalling disgrace that no other community would be expected to tolerate.

I’ve seen a lot of abhorrent things on this app, but the immediate dismissal and ridicule by the British Left of a forthcoming government report on antisemitism towards Jewish children is just appalling. I naïvely thought that, when it came to children specifically, the usual suspects would be more empathetic (or at least more cautious), but alas. The abject cruelty is profoundly disturbing.
Ironically, of course, they make the case for Zionism better than any Zionist ever could. Herzl is vindicated time and time and time again.
Caron Copek. Your decision to print Minto’s claim to know the authentic voice of Jews is frankly disgraceful. His level of disdain for the Jewish community should have made it clear to you how offensive and invalid his comments actually are. Appalling journalism
Stuff decided to end their article as below on the LHS.
You know, a crank with antizionist brainrot, whose life revolves around the principle that Jews should be stateless and powerless again, doesn’t get to say who the authentic voice of Jews is.
But since we are going there, every member of the executive of the Jewish Council is Jewish, as are all the congregations and organisations under our constitutional umbrella.
By contrast, Minto has never claimed Palestinian heritage (it would be odd if he did) nor been to the land that preoccupies his every waking moment. And yet he has run the “Palestine Solidarity Network” here for over a decade and this is the list of the “Free Palestine” party.
