At @commobserver's South Florida Capital & Development Forum yesterday, Head of Florida Alexis Leal joined Tony Fineman, Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, Zack Simkins, Andrew Wachtfogel, and David Scharf to discuss how population growth, infrastructure investment, corporate expansion, and lifestyle shifts are reshaping South Florida’s development landscape. A key takeaway: while labor shortages, access to equity, and permitting challenges continue to add pressure to developments, bringing in all key project stakeholders from the outset allows for goal alignment, which in turn ensures all recommendations, problem-solving, and decisions are made in service of meeting those goals. #ShawmutProud

Over the past several months, significant progress has been made on the new Pawtucket High School, with structural steel installation, concrete operations, and ongoing site work bringing the building’s framework to life on the historic site. The 370,000-square-foot building, the largest school construction project in Rhode Island’s history, will serve 2,100 students and feature modern classrooms, science and technology labs, arts and music spaces, and comprehensive athletic and wellness facilities. #ShawmutBuilt

Last week, we joined our partners at Harvard University to celebrate the opening of 100 South Campus Drive—an all-new, 340,000-square-foot residential community bringing 276 new homes and shared amenities to Harvard affiliates in Allston. Designed by Marvel Architects, the project will meet ambitious Passive House and Living Building Challenge goals, combining an exceptionally high-performing building envelope with all-electric systems, energy recovery ventilation, water-efficiency strategies, healthier material selections, and extensive measures supporting occupant comfort, resilience, and well-being. #ShawmutBuilt

Today, we joined our partners at Brimmer and May to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the new Guild Recreation & Wellness Center—an all-new, 26,000-square-foot facility designed to expand opportunities for athletics, wellness, learning, and community across campus. Designed by Sasaki, the center brings together spaces for movement, learning, health, and connection. A double-height lobby creates a light-filled place for students to gather, study, and socialize, while flexible classrooms, wellness spaces, and a south-facing courtyard extend the building’s role well beyond athletics. The facility also more than doubles Brimmer and May’s recreation space, with a college-regulation competition court, two practice courts, a junior gymnasium, 300-seat bleachers, fitness and training spaces, and enhanced athletic support areas. #ShawmutBuilt
