One of the first Black millionaires in Miami was a Bahamian. Instead of working for money, he wanted to be paid in land. He used that land to create a refuge for Black Americans and Bahamians. Bahamians and Black Americans worked together to build the infrastructure here. That’s why I have love for Black Americans as a Bahamian. We share a history in Miami.

Brazil’s Supreme Court has ordered an investigation into alleged election interference involving a donor network co-founded by JD Vance.

cognitive dissonance is wild bc we all know living to work is soulless/most ppls jobs are meaningless but if you don’t have a career ppl respect you less/you feel like a failure bc almost everyone is too scared to prioritize experiencing life over societal expectations/acceptance

something that makes me sad, not in a trad way, is that public buildings used to be designed to be places that were both functional and served as celebrations of art and architecture. they were supposed to feel important and grand.

This is genuinely psychotic and I’m really tired of people treating active mania as a legitimate political position.

When people talk about how much chaos a cop strike could cause - do they not think about what could happen if Con Ed or the TWU decide to go out for industrial action?
On October 20, ConEd mechanic Koran Irvine was fatally shot by retired NYPD detective Victor Romero, who claimed the 46-year-old father was swerving into his lane, prompting him to discharge his weapon at Irvine's rear window amid moving traffic on George Washington Bridge - the world's busiest motor vehicle bridge. Romero drove home and returned to work the next day, where NYPD detectives asked him to voluntarily come in for questioning. One week following the tragic incident, a grand jury indicted Romero on second-degree murder charges - an upgrade from a manslaughter charge he previously received. He was granted bail and remains free. Status Coup's @jonfarina documents a rally by Irvine's family and friends in Lower Manhattan following Romero's indictment.
