"Sustainable aviation fuel" is the opposite of sustainable. Either it snatches food from the mouths of the poor, by converting it into fuel; or it leads to an expansion of the agricultural frontier, which means the felling of forests, draining of wetlands etc.🧵

Most of the warnings for this paper trimmer: fair enough, good points well made. But the last… why not? What happens if you recklessly attempt to trim paper without the security of a roof? What hideous al fresco paper trimming accidents inspired this warning? We may never know.

ALT Warnings for a paper trimmer with a sliding blade. Covering such topics as whether or not it makes a charming and educational toy for small children; whether the blade doubles as a convenient carrying handle and whether or not the user should immerse it in water ‘or other liquids’. And then finishes with the sinister ‘Do not use outdoors’.

I’d like to defend Boris Johnson. This isn’t his fault. Everybody knew he was a lying disreputable narcissistic dangerous dingbat, but some of them made him their leader anyway. You can’t blame him for that.

Bethell was the Minister in charge of Covid Contracts. He was a close ally of Hancock. Bethell did a lot of dealing on his phone. Guess what? He replaced his phone in 2021 cos the other one was "broken".. Well well well who'd have thought it? #CovidEnquiry #Hallett

It is very odd that Boris Johnson’s old mobile phone has - he says - not been switched on since April 2021. It is the phone that contains all the WhatsApps and messages relevant to Hallett’s Covid-19 inquiry, and presumably to Partygate. Has it really not been examined by Johnson, or his lawyers, or the Cabinet Office, or the security services since then? Did Sue Gray not ask to see it? What about the Privileges Committee? Did no one till today remember that it contains so much precious data? It wasn’t a secret that Johnson was asked for security reasons to stop using it, because his number was in the public domain. So it makes no sense that there has apparently been no attempt to re-activate it. Apart from anything else, if the fear was that Russia and China had hacked the phone, wouldn’t it be sensible to know what they would have found there?
