We need survivors of abuse to feed in their opinions to the inquiry. The inquiry needs to know the facts of what happened and how police and social workers failed them. Please contact Amy Clowrey or the inquiry.

Forgive the plug, but with lots of uninformed stuff being said about “intellectual disability” in relation to Jason Arday - and elsewhere - I do think my book might be useful.

As a psychiatrist I’m clueless as to what this means
How is opening or repurposing buildings in different places the answer?
Where do they think *community* mental health teams are based now? In hospitals?
What on earth have I just listened to? 🤦♂️
BBC Breakfast actually took Yvette Cooper to task this morning over the government’s plan for nearly 200 walk-in mental health centres and dedicated mental health A&Es by 2029, in banks, libraries and hospitals… but with no extra staff.
Her response perfectly sums up this clueless Labour government.
BBC: “So you’d understand then that people might question how much progress could be made given there’ll be no extra recruitment even though there are going to be so many more facilities. That doesn’t seem to make sense?”
Cooper: “Getting people to work differently means you can work better.”
What?? What does that even mean? It’s a completely meaningless statement. No wonder people are cracking up listening to this lot every day.
She also said mental health funding is rising to an astonishing £16 billion this year, yet we seem to have more mental health problems than ever. So what on earth is going on?
Time for a rethink!
Regulate funerals now

The major piece of news I have been waiting to share
⬇️
@NHSNotts UNDER CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION FOR CORPORATE MANSLAUGHTER.
@thetimes
‘Detectives (@northumbriapol ) have informed the trust’s bosses and told them to preserve all records related to the June 2023 attacks.
The trust said that it would co-operate with the inquiry.
The move is likely to send ‘shockwaves’ through the NHS as it shifts the case against the trust from treatment failures to the question of whether it was directly responsible for the killings’.
COMMENT:
As a trust we hold you to account for the loss of our son, for Grace and for Ian.
Yes - YOU.
To all of the negligent, inept and failed clinicians, practitioners and managers.
TOP DOWN.
You WILL be held to account.
You (alongside the Calocane family, the @nottspolice, @leicspolice and @CPSUK ).
You have blood on your hands. You know it, I know it, and now the country will know it.
Whatever it takes, you will be held to account.
I will post in full tomorrow….

I've been seeing people snipping about why the assisted dying bill bothers disabled people given it's 'only for terminally adults'.
Safeguards for starters. The bill puts disabled people at real risk and it is frankly naive to think otherwise.
We're also treated as second class citizens now. A cost, a problem. Look at the history of the Liverpool Care Pathway. The fact that Do Not Resuscitate Orders are slapped on people who don't want them by the NHS. The barriers it puts in front of disabled people seeking care (I have the receipts). And more besides.
Giving the state an option like this is frightening.
You think Dignity in Dying is going to pack up and go home if they get this? Think again. The next campaign will be to lower the hurdles. Look at Canada or the Netherlands. Then tell me thisis okay.

The focus is stuck on failing maternity wards - and families deserve answers. But problems in maternity extend into education and training, and the policies pursued and pushed by NHS & Govt over the past 20 years. Are we looking in the right places? nitter.gq/i/status/1987286441555…
🚨 INVESTIGATION: Britain's maternity crisis has deeper roots, extending into the universities trusted to train the next generation of midwives. A majority are still promoting a normal birth ideology while women are more complex than ever:
