Looking forward to seeing the new series of #AHouseThroughTime tonight! I only had a small role this time - providing a few research tips to the team for the London flat. I can’t wait to see how it all came together! 😀 #househistory #househistories @DavidOlusoga @TwentyTwentyTV

Dan’s right: @LondonWaterloo has some terrific Edwardian-era design details. This glorious LSWR stained glass window is best seen from the non-public side; & since I was working in the offices there today I snapped this (& mirror-flipped it) so you could enjoy it too.

Next time you are there, keep an eye out for things like the gorgeous metalwork around the subway entrances, featuring jolly lions. There are rams' heads on the gas lamp housings(?) outside. And niceties like the Greek key pattern on the canopy, with ornate brackets below. 2/2

Hurrah! Renovations at @LondonWaterloo @Foyles bookshop are complete: pleased to report that the former buffet’s twin domed Cash Desks (early 1900s) are still in good nick (obv part of listed structure) bearing moniker L&SWR. Alas, the attendant in 1960s pic now replaced by books

Fun fact: The hammerbeam roof of Westminster Hall (under which HMQ’s coffin will lie in state) was the inspiration for Brunel’s Bristol Temple Meads of 1841: he famously designed its roof 4ft wider. But rly, it’s an engineering trick: his hammerbeam elements are just decorative.
