As you know full well, the BoE announced its plan to begin active gilt sales just two days before the budget, which raised long-term bond yields - LDI crisis.

Do you ever post about anything other than vitriolic and spiteful attacks toward the opposition? Everything you do is aggressive slander, which is conspicuously grinding, considering your time in government has caused cataclysmic damage to our education system. Ghastly

Bridget, have you looked at the gilt market lately, or is 2022 the only year you're interested in? UK borrowing costs have risen sharply under Labour, while households continue to struggle with the cost of living. You cannot endlessly lecture the Conservatives about Truss while pretending Labour's own economic record is beyond scrutiny. Perhaps try discussing today's figures rather than recycling yesterday's headlines.

Let’s look at Bridget Phillipson and her mother Clare Phillipson. £728,000 unaccounted for when Phillipson Snr was director of Wearside Women in Need. £290,000 paid for house never used for said purpose. Where are the accounts? Where is the money?

The calibre of politician Phillipson.. When interviewed by Trevor Phillips she was asked whether Labour believed the rights of ILLEGALS came before the local people in Epping, she answered “Yes, of course we do” …. Just like her mumsy : Amoral. Grasping. Stvpid.

Phillipson doesn’t learn, does she! Wither thou goest, oh cr00ked one, we will follow …. Where’s the money and accounts that disappeared from Wearside Women in Need whilst your mumsy was director? Why was mumsy ‘allowed’ to retire? You helped mumsy out also from time to time. Come clean about your involvement! Is mumsy continuing to enjoy the occasional luxury cruise? From rotten trees, rotting apples fall! MULCH!

"Who is bankrolling Nigel Farage's party?" asks Bridget Phillipson. "Labour will protect our democracy from foreign influence." Right. Same question back. Who is bankrolling Labour, and the machine around it? Gary Lubner. South African. Former Autoglass chief. Millions. Lord Alli. Buys the clothes, lends the flat. George Soros. Money into Best for Britain and Fair Vote, routed through a London outpost, which is how a foreign fortune gets round a ban on foreign donations. Pierre Omidyar. French-Iranian, eBay founder, funding the campaign groups. Bill Gates. In for the photo call. Swedish philanthropists. Bloomberg. And Verbatim, which made the Channel 4 sting she is riding, is itself funded from abroad. So the watchdog on foreign money is on foreign money. And those are off the top of my head. No research. Give me an afternoon and the list fills a page. So the party promising to protect democracy from foreign influence is up to its neck in it, legally, through the same door, and has proposed no cap that would inconvenience a single person in the room. They held a drinks party for them in Downing Street. The question is not who is bankrolling Farage. It is why Labour thinks the answer changes depending on whose name is on the cheque. "Protect our democracy from foreign influence." They would not know where to start.
Who is bankrolling Nigel Farage's party? What interests are they seeking to advance? Are they acting in Britain's best interests? Reform UK are engulfed in sleaze and scandal. Labour will protect our democracy from foreign influence. independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

This reads like a sketch done by a comedian who is taking the piss out of really thick politicians for our entertainment on a prime-time show. Except it actually isn't. I genuinely believe there is no one at all in labour who has the faintest idea of how economics works. And yet, we have to pay for that. Read a GODDAM BOOK, guys.

This is incredibly alarming. We cannot go on like this. We need more advocacy for climate action, not just from the environmental movement, but from the political centre.

The idea that London was "always diverse" is a myth. Tower Hamlets, the borough Whitechapel is located in, was 76% White British or Irish as recently as 1981 - it was just 24% White British or Irish just 40 years later.

We went from “questioning Abdul El-Sayed’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood is racist” to “actually, the Muslim Brotherhood is quite moderate by Egyptian standards, and Republicans are far worse anyway” remarkably quickly.
I've been reticent to jump into the moral panic about @AbdulElSayed's supposed ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. But I'll say a few things that should be obvious but apparently aren't, as someone who studied the Brotherhood for years and wrote several books about them. First of all, so what if Abdul's mom was involved with the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in the 1970s? What does that have to do with Abdul? You shouldn't be judged for something your parents did or didn't do before you were even born. That's plainly guilt by association. As for the Egyptian Brotherhood itself, it hasn't been involved in political violence since the 1940s/50s and even those incidents can't really be described as terrorism, since they didn't target innocent civilians for political gain. In the decades since, the Brotherhood has repeatedly renounced violence and committed themselves to pursuing their aims through the democratic process. It's little accident that Al-Qaeda's number two, Ayman al-Zawahiri, wrote an entire book condemning the Brotherhood as lackeys and disbelievers, precisely because they had agreed to abide by the rules of the democratic game. Of course, it's totally fine to dislike the Brotherhood and what they stand for. They advocate for the application of Islamic law in politics and for a larger role for Islam in public life more broadly. In short, they're illiberal and we as Americans probably wouldn't want to live under their rule. But I don't see how one could describe them as an "extremist" organization. Their views on Islam — as ample polling makes clear — are fairly mainstream by Egyptian standards. I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to judge the Brotherhood according to liberal, American standards. Before the Trump administration, successive U.S. administrations engaged directly with Muslim Brotherhood officials and maintained open lines of communication with their leaders, which made sense. They were the largest mass movement and opposition group in Egypt and it would have been foolish to ignore them from the standpoint of U.S. national interests. Even if you hate the Brotherhood, it should also be possible to hold the view that their members and supporters shouldn't be repressed or killed and should have the right to participate in politics and contest democratic elections. Democracy, at its core, is about the right to make the wrong choice. In many ways, MAGA as a movement is more radical than the Brotherhood was in Egypt both before and during the Arab Spring. At the very least, MAGA — like the Brotherhood — is illiberal. And the Republican Party under Trump has a dubious relationship with democracy. After all, a significant number of Republicans, including Trump himself, didn't respect democratic outcomes in 2020 and sought to overturn a legitimate election. The GOP's attempt to demonize the Brotherhood and paint with the guilt-by-association brush is just another way to vilify peaceful law-abiding American Muslims by portraying them as having foreign ties and dual loyalties. It should be rejected as such. The idea that Abdul is some secret Muslim Brotherhood member is absurd on its face. I wish the Republican Party would make up its mind about people like Abdul and Zohran, both of whom take the Democratic Party's line on LGBTQ rights and even trans athletes participation in women's sports. Sure, their faith is important to them and it influences them — but Republicans should welcome the fact that there are prominent Muslim politicians who are normalizing talking about one's faith in public life, especially after criticizing the Democratic Party for being inhospitable to people of faith.
