Corey Ragsdale sharing the importance of prep step landing timing, with video evidence to show exactly what he’s talking about. Even at the highest level of the game, the smallest details can be the difference between making a play and not making a play.
This takes practice. You have to work on it during BP and experience it in games until you start to understand and feel the timing. Once you do, you start getting to balls you didn’t know you could and making plays that others won’t.
Small details make a big difference.

As a base runner, freezing on smoked line drives can still result in getting doubled up. Take a step back then make your read!!

One of baseball’s best base hit bunters Garrett Hampson.
1) Simple early turn.
2) Great bat angle out in front with barrel pointed to 1B coach.
3) Elbows point DOWN.
4) Sees the ball down off the bat before running.

Reading a lefty, from Eduardo Pérez — passed down from Lou Brock:
Key on his left foot, the one on the rubber.
Toes lift at the start? He's coming to first.
Toes stay down? He's going home.
Eduardo's advice? One foot tells you everything.⚾

Did you know footwork for tagging at 3B on a sac fly changes w/ the ball? Foul down the line behind you: R foot on bag's front edge, L foot toward home. Ball in front: flip it — L foot on bag, R foot toward home. Either way: chest + eyes on ball, loaded to break & score.

Garrett Hampson with a BHB to 3B
1) Early show . Better too early than too late.
2) Eyes & bat connected.
3) Good angle. Bat pointed towards 1st base coach.
4) Good speed & direction. Not too fine.
5) Sees ball down then runs.

Every hitter I train learns to get behind the ball and why it helps them be more consistent.
It’s what turns weak rollovers into balls you actually drive with authority.
The cue I use the most for this: Keep your eyes behind it and finish all the way through the ball.
This helps you stay on the ball too. (There are many benefits)
These 4 MLB guys do it about as clean as it gets.

Talked to Manny Ramirez today about taking batting practice.
He said today’s BP has become pull-side homers and exit velo.
He and David Ortiz worked gap-to-gap. Middle of the field first.
The home runs showed up on their own.
That isn’t an accident. ⚾️
Habits are important!
"Outside of catching fly balls...this is our most important skill as an outfielder."
An outfielder who understands game situation, keeps the trail runner in check, and preserves the double play can impact an inning beyond simply fielding the baseball.
Keeping the double play in order may not show up in the highlight reel, but it can have a huge impact on run expectancy and winning baseball games.

High schools allowing -4, -5, -6 bats for HS play starting in 2028 is super soft. I don’t mind it for Modified baseball as a “gap” closer of sorts…otherwise I think it’s going to stunt growth and development, which is the opposite of intent of the move, per NFHS.
Kids get away with murder with the bats they swing at 12u and under right now…they learn quick what doesn’t work then you get to HS swinging a drop 3. Giving youth athletes ANOTHER reason to delay weight training and focus on getting stronger is not going to go well IMO.
