A Consummate Professional
βJust a bit up the road. Think we can make it.β
His arms slip around to her back, his comment slowly becoming less true as he watches her.
ββ¦Unless we canβt.β
He teases, his head leaning to rest faintly against her arm.
Once she pulls away, a breath escapes him. With a light shrug of his shoulders, his hands pull her closer by her waist.
βGotta be less professional around you.β
A joke, his hands tense against her frame.
ββ¦Stay with me tonight.β
A quieted laugh on his lips as heβs pulled, watching as he eyes drift lower. Her words coax a more devious smirk, leaning in a bit closer.
βMaybe.β
He closes the gap, pressing his lips to hers. Itβs gentle, at first, slowly easing into it.
He remained unreadable, aside from the grin on his lips.
βYeah? That so?β
That stroked his ego, letting his gaze linger on hers just a bit longer.
ββ¦Think youβre pretty too, Queen Bee. Appreciate your company tonight.β
βBetween us, he had it coming.β
He chuckled happily, holding onto her as he watches how wonderfully she lit up from the prank.
βIβm surprised it was as easy as it was.β
Heβs right at her side, making sure sheβs staying mostly stable while she walks. Cant help that heβs laughing too.
Not the best party, but with company like her? Absolutely could have been worse.
βDid you see his face?β
βPick you up a bit later then? Make sure youβve got a costume.β
He offered a wink and a wave as headed off. Heβd definitely get words, very pointed and angry ones, but a night with her?
β¦Worth it.
βThatβs the plan, unless youβve got a better idea?β
He shakes his head.
ββ¦May get a word or two from some, but I donβt care. Theyβll say stuff regardless. What and who I spend my time with is my prerogative. We get free drinks, free food, we can leave.β
Thereβs a party at Shinra for employees and their familyβs and dates. Was going to get drunk tonight, but if you arenβt workingβ¦
You feeling up to partying with a bunch of soldiers scientists? Itβsβ¦not much more fun than it sounds, but, free drinks and food.
βA second date, huh?β
A light chuckle escaped him, not pushing it further. With a faint shrug of his shoulders, he knew he could wait.
βGuess I can wait till then. Think our game is about over, then. Though, I do owe you one more, if you want it. If not, thenββ
He finishesβ
A smirk tugged at his lips, faintly nodding in agreement. To most, that was as foolish as it was dangerous.
βWillingly, donβt forget. Really wanted that rush, huh?β
He took another sip, his brow raising in slight shock but more curious than anything.
βIβm assuming he doesnβtβ
Taking his glass, he leaned back into the corner of the couch. Resting his hand on his thigh, he rests the other arm along the back of the couch. His eyes rested on her, bringing the glass to his lips.
βSince you enjoy risks and danger, whatβs the most dangerous thing youβveβ
As she walks past him, his attention turns to the kitchen. Did he have any drinks?
βAs long as weβre sober on the job, they donβt care. At least, they havenβt said as much.β
If they did, he wouldnβt know. The few times he did drink he was usually out and sober by the time heβ
βwas back at the building. Luckily there was something, a bottle of lemon vodka, one that Rude particularly liked on the rare occasion he drank with him. Grabbing two glasses, his only glasses, he took the bottle by the neck and headed to join her on the couch.
βCompliments ofβ
