New paper in Imaging Neuroscience @mitpress by Simon Kohl, Kerstin Konrad et al:
Successful modulation of temporoparietal junction activity and stimulus-driven attention by fNIRS-based neurofeedback—A randomized controlled proof-of-concept study
direct.mit.edu/imag/article/…
I am delighted to share that our work on #fNIRS #neurofeedback has finally been accepted for publication in one of the inaugural issues of @ImagingNeurosci – a superior and more sustainable successor to @NeuroImage_EiC for academic publishing. direct.mit.edu/imag/article/…
📢📢New preprint
We demonstrate that fNIRS-based neurofeedback is a feasible method to modulate right temporoparietal junction activity and functions with first evidence of neurophysiologically specific effects on stimulus-driven attention.

It's truly gratifying to contribute to this innovative shift in our publication system. A heartfelt thank you to all of its editors for their bold initiative!

All NeuroImage and NeuroImage:Reports editors have resigned over the high publication fee, and are starting a new non-profit journal

This comes with great regret, and a huge amount of thought and discussion- please read announcement to get more details.

I started this project more than 5 years ago as part of my PhD. So I am very glad to finally share this.
Thanks to all my coauthors Piav Mehlis, @GibbonJojo, @Michael_Luehrs @neuroccino @BellLaura20 @ssoekadar @ShivakumarVisw1 and special thanks to my supervisor @KerstinKonrad3

Thanks for the super helpful #fNIRS workshop Fine Stuhr-Wulff, Mahipal Choudhary and @yesilyurt_baris @NIRx_NIRS @MES_Forschung @UniklinikAachen!
I am glad that our review paper on the neurobiology of interpersonal neural synchronization has finally been accepted for publication!
Big thanks to the first author @LeonDLotter and the other co-authors for the great work! See thread below.

New Preprint! 🧠↔️🧠
We integrate spatial meta-analytic data on interpersonal neural synchronization (INS) with diverse public databases to develop new hypotheses on the neurobiology of INS.
Preprint: bit.ly/3Pq26Gj
Repo: bit.ly/3pgmwXA
Overview: ⬇️
1/10

ALT The figure summarizes the results and hypotheses generated in this study. INS is spatially associated to interpersonal interaction, observation, and attention processes on a behavioral level, to attention-related brain networks and the DMN on the brain network level, to the TPJ and the IFG on a brain-regional level, and to layer IV/V neuronal circuits and to GABAergic neurotransmission on molecular and cell-levels. Additionally, INS-related gene expression was found to start in sensory brain areas postnatally.
It was a pleasure to present our #fnirs work at #rtFIN2022 @Yale. Thanks for organizing @franziKlein_
Methodologies and applications for #fNIRS neurofeedback training: check out our session with presentations from Bettina Sorger, @Michael_Luehrs, @franziKlein_, @SimonHKohl and me at #rtFIN2022.
