I’m excited to announce a new feature-length documentary project I’m working on with my co-director @apoolos about Russia’s efforts to eradicate Evangelical Christians from the map of Ukraine to impose Russian Orthodoxy as the state religion. Rubio on the Starlink slowdowns: "It sort of happened.” Watch my full update where I get into what pushed Musk to limit Ukraine’s access to Starlink.
You're right, @elonmusk. Someone has grown very rich off money flowing from Ukraine. I work in Starlink supply to Ukraine, so I see these numbers firsthand.
Ukrainians bought 117,000 terminals in September alone (~$42M), plus monthly subscriptions for each one. And that's just official commercial imports. Not counting government contracts, donor-funded deliveries, direct orders from your website or grey imports.
No laundry machines needed. It goes straight to SpaceX.

A wild story: the CEO of a US energy company whose plans were discussed during the Witkoff-Kushner-Putin negotiations resigns. Why? He learned that his company's main investor is a sanctioned Russian company, not the UAE

Wait, I thought the West “provoked” you into invading Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin cited genetics to declare that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people” and reiterated his claim to Ukrainian territory, saying: “I think that it is not their territory but the historical territory of Russia.” wapo.st/48aZaZF

This week I'm looking at what pushed Musk to limit Ukraine’s access to Starlink and the secretive Russian aerospace company building Putin’s SpaceX rival.
God, we're just scratching the surface with this guy, aren't we?
“In late spring 2020, a source I knew to be reliable called me with a story,” writes Matthew Cole. “The Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner’s phone and monitored him as he accessed a Dubai-based bank account. What was odd, the source said, was that the money in the account—hundreds of millions of dollars—had come from a bank in Azerbaijan. Most importantly, Kushner appeared to have transferred significant amounts of money from the Dubai account to other individuals, including a warlord, a mercenary and a one-time hit man. The story sounded preposterous, I told my source. And yet.
Six months later, I found myself speaking with someone else about the UAE government and their use of mercenaries in conflicts around the Middle East and Africa when I asked, on a whim, whether they knew anything about Kushner and bank transfers from a UAE account. My acquaintance grew quiet. Then they replied, ‘Yes.’” Kushner’s lawyer denied the bank account existed.
