For the first time in 137 years, the @IPUparliament Inter-Parliamentary Union has a female Secretary General!
It was a real delight and pleasure for me today, meeting with Mme SG Anda Filip at the IPU offices in #Geneva.
Role of #Parliaments is just so central to advancing gender equality, securing and protecting human rights of all women and girls; from representation, legislative mandate, budgets approval and oversight of the Executive.
At this moment both the @IPUPresident and SG are women, setting a new norm.
Each year, @IPUparliament and @UN_Women produces a map showing the representation of women in public office, heads of states, ministers, members of parliament.
Great appreciation to all partners and friends who resource and accompany our collective efforts.

At the @UNHumanRights Council this morning, preparing for my statement to Member States during the annual session that whose theme this year was on "Gender Stereotypes and Non-Discrimination"
@UN_Women works with Office of High Commission on Human Rights, CEDAW Committee, the UN Working Group on Non-Discrimation of Women, the Special Rapporteur on Ending Violence Against Women, as as well as other mechanisms and mandate holders as global, regional and country level.

The African Union Youth Ambassadors for Peace (AYAPs Cohort 4) are convening an online discussion as part of the commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2026, titled “From Framework to Action: Advancing Youth, Peace and Security in Africa”.
Aligned with the #PeaceDay2026 theme, “Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day”, the engagement aims to promote understanding and the implementation of the Continental Framework on Youth, Peace and Security and its 10 Year Implementation Plan, define and refine shared priorities in this regard and strengthen collaboration between the @AU_AYAPs, their youth constituencies, member states, regional economic communities(RECs), partners and peacebuilding practitioners and researchers.
Inter alia, it will promote African #youth leadership, aim to advance community and national priorities with regional and continental decision-making, and fine-tune AYAPs’ deliverables under their mandates.

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, @ymahmoudali, accompanied by @DCP_Haddadi & AU Commissioners, is participating in the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Chairperson underscored that this year’s theme, “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All,” is particularly timely against the backdrop of complex & evolving global challenges.
He stressed that the Session provides an important opportunity to reaffirm the centrality of #multilateralism, strengthen international cooperation, & advance a more responsive, inclusive, representative & effective multilateral system; consistent with Africa’s longstanding call for meaningful reform of global governance institutions, including the UN Security Council.
The Chairperson added that for #Africa, the Session also provides an important platform to advance the continent’s priorities, strengthen the Africa–UN partnership, & promote collective solutions to shared challenges of peace & security, sustainable development & global governance, including through enhanced African representation & voice in international decision-making.
On the sidelines of #UNGA81, Chairperson Youssouf & his delegation have had numerous high-level engagements with leaders of the EU, the UN Secretary General, and the private sector to advance Africa's priorities within the framework of the AU #Agenda2063.

H.E. Amb Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner, #PAPS and H. E. Mrs. Frances Piagie Alghali, newly elected #ECOWAS Commissioner for PAPS, held their first meeting on the margins of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (#UNGA82) at the @AfricanUnionUN in New York.
The two exchanged views on joint activities to be undertaken by the #AU and ECOWAS on governance, peace, and security, while emphasizing conflict prevention and mediation. They expressed their commitment to enhanced AU/ECOWAS cooperation and collaboration, with increased women and youth participation in the peace and security agenda of the two Organizations. @AUC_PAPS

Peut être que je mélange certaines choses mais je trouve quand même que l’organisation de Brussels Airport (@BrusselsAirport) donne une impression assez raciste.
Tous les vols à destination de l’Afrique subsaharienne sont regroupés au fond de l’aéroport et pour accéder à cette partie il faut encore passer un contrôle supplémentaire des passeports. Alors que pour les autres zones de l’aéroport ( des destinations hors d’Afrique subsaharienne) on ne retrouve pas cette même organisation ni contrôle

C'est RACISTE !
Le racisme à l'aéroport de Bruxelles est systémique: ils parquent les africains comme du bétail sans aucune commodité dans un terminal unique. Tu peux transiter à l'aéroport de Bruxelles et c'est en entrant dans l'avion que tu te rends compte qu'ils ont déjà embarqué les "blancs".
