FBI JOINS SEARCH FOR MISSING 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN WEST PHILADELPHIA AS POLICE FEAR SHE MAY BE IN DANGER
Philadelphia Police and the FBI are searching for a 10-year-old girl who has been missing for more than a week, with investigators expressing growing concern for her safety.
Jalayshia Alford, also known as Malayshia or “May,” was last reportedly seen around 7:30 a.m. on October 26 in the 500 block of North Simpson Street in West Philadelphia.
Jalayshia was living with a foster family at the time of her disappearance.
INVESTIGATORS QUESTION TIMELINE OF DISAPPEARANCE
Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore said investigators recovered surveillance footage showing Jalayshia traveling to and from school in the days before October 26, but have not located footage showing her on the block since.
Vanore described the timeline provided by adults in her life as “foggy.”
According to Jalayshia’s aunt, Yolanda Brown, the child’s foster mother initially claimed Jalayshia’s biological mother had picked her up. However, Brown said her sister denied having the child.
The foster mother later reportedly said Jalayshia left for the school bus Monday morning but never arrived at school.
Brown also said investigators informed her Jalayshia had not attended school the previous Friday.
FBI AND HOMICIDE DETECTIVES ASSISTING
Federal agents have joined Philadelphia Police in the search. K-9 units searched the neighborhood Monday, while homicide detectives specializing in digital forensics are assisting investigators.

Start investigations on the Federal level, go to work on the state and local levels.
Authoritarians go to the states when they lose power at the federal level (Jim
Crow laws, Dobbs decision, Calllais decision).

Has anybody checked on Target after last night’s election?
We still saying NO to shopping at Target! 🎯
They need to understand that rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives is a red line for us. Our dollars have power, and we should be intentional about where we spend them.
Accountability matters. #TargetBoycott

I don’t come here much because that man ruined this site and turned it into a racist hellscape.
But please know— for all of you who so rapidly abandoned DEI, I remember.
Especially those of you in higher ed.
If I see you pop up on anything equity related, it’s UP.
Dear Stacey Abrams,
This moment is dedicated to YOU.
Before Keisha Lance Bottoms made history as the first Black woman elected governor in America, you dared to show us that it was possible.
You ran when the road was uncertain. You stood tall when the outcome wasn’t what we’d hoped. And instead of allowing defeat to define your story, you continued the work of making sure our voices were heard.
Your courage, your grace, your commitment to voting rights, and your power to organize helped lay the groundwork for a Georgia that looks different today.
And while we celebrate this historic victory and the wave of change sweeping across the country, we cannot forget the women who helped make moments like this possible.
Stacey, we see you. We thank you. And we give you your flowers.

Is it too early to have the conversation about all the companies and schools that rolled back their diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, only to be reminded last night that America is, in fact, diverse?
Diversity didn’t disappear.
The question is whether those institutions are willing to acknowledge it.

To the Black women standing on the right side of history: You show up for a country that rarely shows up for you. Despite the relentless scapegoating, the anti-DEI attacks, the misogynoir, and being expected to carry the weight alone, you stood on the front lines once again and defended democracy.
You lead with power, principle, and an unmatched commitment to freedom, even when other communities fail to reciprocate, and even when people within our own community trade solidarity for proximity to power, self-enrichment, and Whiteness.
You deserve far more than thank-yous after an election; you deserve protection, respect, resources, and your flowers every single day. We see you, we honor you, and we owe you. 🙏🏽💙💐
