Happy-fathers-day Slide, just want to thank for sharing your wisdom, kindness, respect, and love with me, for being the father I never had. You've empowered me to accomplish what at least one man would say "can't do that in jazz"
I say to that man...watch me

Slides last performance. Filmed by me: Anthony-charles:Bey on June 30 2021 4 days after calling and finding him with no food, badly dehydrated and no access to his bank account. His family wanted to be more "involved" with his "care". This "care" and neglect caused his death.

Mr. Hampton wasn't just a great trombonist, composer and arranger...he was a kind and giving man. A man who would give you the shirt off his back and more. I can count on one hand those in the jazz "family" who actually showed Slide respect and honor.
My nephew called me today and informed me that the great Roy Hargrove had passed this morning. We toured the world together with the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band. Musically, he was as creative a creative gets. I miss you already, Roy...may you find peace in transition.
