Just last month, DoorDash couldn’t seem to find the money to pay their deliveristas — until our administration forced them to give back $131M+ in stolen wages and penalties. This week, they’ve managed to find $17 billion to acquire one of their main competitors. Corporate consolidation means higher prices, harsher exploitation, and greater economic inequality for New Yorkers. We’ve stood up to these giants before. That doesn’t stop now.

The guy who kept Shaq and Charles Barkley in line on TV for 37 years used to spend his mornings shaving and dressing his son, who could barely move and breathed through a ventilator. Then he'd go to work and laugh with those guys all night like nothing was going on. Tonight Ernie Johnson said this season will be his last, and Barkley tried to thank him on air and couldn't get the words out. I don't think most people watching that clip know what Ernie was carrying all those years. He and his wife Cheryl adopted Michael from an orphanage outside Bucharest in 1991, when he was 3. He had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and doctors didn't think he'd make it to his 20s. He lived to 33. When Ernie was home, getting Michael ready in the morning could take an hour and a half, and Ernie did the showering and shaving and dressing himself. In 2006 he told viewers he had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and by the end of October he was back at the desk while he was still going through chemo. When Michael died in 2021, Ernie wasn't on the show that week, and Shaq, Kenny and Chuck spent about six minutes trying to hold it together while they talked about a kid most of America never met. Then last year he had heart bypass surgery, and this summer he turned 70. Ernie's dad pitched in the big leagues and then called Braves games for decades, and he gave his son a rule Ernie's talked about forever: if somebody spikes you at second base, never rub. If you've ever wondered why nobody's been able to copy Inside, that rule is a big part of it. Barkley could say the dumbest thing imaginable, Shaq could fall out of his chair, Kenny could go running to the big board, and Ernie would just pick it up and bring it back to basketball with that yellow legal pad. Those three got to be chaos because the guy in the middle never made his own stuff the show. He still calls hosting a "get-to job," and he was calling it that the same year he buried his son. So when Charles Barkley, who's roasted pretty much everybody alive on live TV, can't finish a sentence to the man, that's why.
Charles Barkley and the guys give Ernie Johnson his flowers. This is a must watch. (via @ohnohedidnt24)

As an older millennial that was a teenager for these movies, I do not remember anybody saying the prequels sucked at the time. That was social media revisionism by nerdy edgelords on social media 10 years later. Episode I is a masterpiece (and Empire is still my favorite)

I'd like to take this bait if I may... Kevin Smith's 'Clerks The Animated Series' featured a scene where Randal puts George Lucas on trial for The Phantom Menace and demands a refund. This was before episode 2 was even released.

This is also why millennials love the LOTR trilogy. The irony-soaked characters and lack of earnestness.
the reason millenial nerds feel a compulsion to shit on the star wars prequels, despite the obvious cinematic brilliance, is they are played entirely earnest. there is no jim from the office winking at the camera, which makes them excruciating to the irony poisoned millenial mind

I know you blame practically everything on The Office, but considering there's no Jim from the Office winking at the camera in the original trilogy and that the show didn't even premiere until the year Revenge of the Sith came out, it's probably not that.

Brad Bird explains that each person's powers in ‘THE INCREDIBLES’ represents an average family unit. “Fathers are expected to be strong, so I made him super strong. Mothers are pulled in ten directions at once, so she stretches. Teenagers are insecure & defensive so she can turn invisible & has force fields. 10-year old boys are energy balls that just go until they pass out. Babies are unknowns, they could be the next leader of the free world or they could be a bag man, you don’t know.” (Source: @ThatHollywood)

Just out of spite; here are the early Digger reviews that specifically discouraged audiences from going to theater to experience Digger. All of them were published before 10/2. - Michael Calabro (IGN) : “the laughs that are there still will be when it hits HBO Max” ign.com/articles/digger-revi… - Odie Henderson (The Boston Globe) : “doomscrolling … is a better use of your time than paying to see this movie” bostonglobe.com/2026/09/29/a… - Johnny Oleksinski (New York Post) : “Audiences will urgently want to leave after the first five minutes.” nypost.com/2026/09/29/entert… I respect anyone’s opinion on Digger, even if it’s a poor rating, because there are many points about this movie that could be up for a good debate. What bothers me about those three reviews is that they went beyond judging the film and told people not to bother seeing it in theaters. Plenty of critics who didn’t like the movie still encouraged audiences to decide for themselves. One of the harshest early reviews predicted an F CinemaScore, yet still called it “the sort of interesting failure that’s eminently worth seeing.” Another wasn’t sold on the twist but said “the sheer boldness of the swing alone may be worth the price of admission.” One critic who didn’t love it said they were “giddy that it’s lurched into existence.” Even the critic behind one of those “wait for streaming” headlines wrote that the theater is “undoubtedly the best way to experience it.” To me, those are more honest reviews of the movie than whatever those three articles were doing. If you encounter any articles from these three people... well, I'll let you be the judge 🙏

Not sure where *this* weird revisionism is coming from. Most people said and thought they were bad. They are!
