Sometimes, you need to postpone a purchase you desire, to fund an acquisition or asset that serves you better. Swapping an expense for an asset is not failure; it’s financial maturity. You haven’t lost ground; you’ve made a smarter move.
Dividend yield shows the annual dividend you earn relative to a stock’s current price.
Formula: (Annual Dividend ÷ Share Price) × 100
Example: ₦10 dividend on a ₦100 share = 10% yield, while ₦200 share = 5%.
Remember: A high yield isn’t always a good sign.
4. You can start small.
Some funds accept investments from ₦1,000.
5. Access to your money.
Withdrawals are subject to the fund’s minimum holding period and terms.
The goal isn’t just to make money. Its to make informed decisions with it.
Have you explored money market funds?
3. Diversification + short maturities
Your investment is typically spread across multiple instruments, many of which mature within a year.
This can help manage certain risks, although returns aren’t guaranteed.
2. Regulatory oversight
In Nigeria, SEC-regulated money market funds operate under an investment framework designed to protect investors.
Always verify the fund, its manager and its regulatory status before investing.
1. Lower-risk investments
Money market funds invest in short-term instruments like Treasury Bills and other money market securities, rather than volatile stocks.
Lower risk doesn’t mean zero risk, though.
Your money doesn’t always have to sit idle in your bank account.
A money market fund could be an option worth understanding.
Here are 5 reasons why.

If you don’t give your money a job, it will find one for itself. 👀
Before your next payday, decide what your money needs to do: cover expenses, build savings, clear debt or fund your goals.
Don’t just spend what’s left. Plan where it goes.
Give every naira a purpose.

Are you buying the item or the feeling?
Sometimes, we spend to feel better, not because we need it.
Before your next purchase, pause and ask: “Do I want this, or do I just want to feel better?”
What’s one impulse purchase you regret? 👇

Buy things that will add more money to you.
Not everything you buy should take money out of your pocket. Some things should help you earn more, grow your wealth, or create new opportunities.
Before your next purchase, ask yourself: Will this only cost me money, or make me money?
