The family of an 82-year-old dementia patient is raising concerns about his care at Methodist Dallas Medical Center after they say he fell from a hospital bed and suffered a head injury that required six staples.
Medical records from September 16, 2026, describe the patient as unsteady, impulsive and at risk of falling if not watched. According to his daughter, hospital staff told her the bed alarm was not on when her father fell. She also says staff told her multiple times that the fall was their fault.
The daughter says her father was found on the floor in a pool of blood and later received staples to the back of his head. She also raised concerns about how long it took for follow-up imaging, cleanliness, personal care and says he was later left on a bedpan for several hours.
Methodist Dallas Medical Center sent the family a letter confirming Patient Relations was reviewing the concerns and said the hospital would respond within 30 days.
The hospital’s written response shown does not itself admit fault, but the daughter says staff verbally accepted responsibility for the fall.
