By Opta's global soccer rankings Arsenal is the #1 team in the world. Fleetwood town is ranked 1753.
There is no analogy using American sports to accurately describe the magnitude of the upset.

Being a Crew fan is not for the feint of heart. Hell is Real victors, to Open Cup heartbreak, to Toronto redemption, and Dallas is up next. Is this Crew team finally finding consistency? Matt, Jay, Gabe & @SoccerWithSam break it all down on the latest episode OUT NOW! #Crew96
Crew's mixed season has Taha flying under the radar, but he has been a bright spot all year, and seems to get better every single game.
I'm feeling confident that he is the best player the Crew's Academy has ever produced...and two academy guys are bringing Boro to the Prem.
Pretty much impossible to justify this decision.
You cannot be both bad, and also have no opportunities for young players. Crew have a lot of talent in academy + 2nd team, but seem to be unwilling to integrate them.
I have no idea what this team's direction or vision is.
The Crew have acquired up to $100,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money via a trade with Nashville SC for the loan of Homegrown defender Owen Presthus through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season.

Signing players based on international tournaments is like the textbook transfer market folly.
I understand this desire from a marketing standpoint, but it isn’t really how you build good rosters.
Iger gonna be shocked when he learns he can’t just buy his competitors and merge them into a super team
Arfsten's labeled as a Defender on Boro's site. He was used as a pretty classic LB against Wrexham...but I'm skeptical that this is a good use of his skillset.
Hellberg and Pochettino have both seen Max as LB rather than winger. But he will need to grow into the role!
The problem I have with the Retirement League moniker is that it assumes a single identity/roster building strategy for a 30 team league.
"Sell tickets & win games with recognizable aging stars" is certainly the strategy of some teams, but many do not
1) MLS is a retirement league, same as Saudi, it’s just the Saudis don’t offer American passports to the player’s children.
2) Vorzihna has 15m followers, the biggest Cinderella story and cost 300k.
Surely some #dudewipes money could help clean it up
Are soccer fans still invested in the US vs Mexico soccer rivalry at the club level? My thoughts on Leagues Cup:
I think metrics like xG are very valuable in soccer. But seeing 0.07 xGoT for this Suarez shot gives me pause. Schulte gets a huge negative on goals prevented based on this, but it really wasn’t a goalkeeping error.
The model seems to be missing some factors.
Solid time to bring this back up. Makes it very easy for me to follow all the former Crew players when they are all going to the same team!
Got a new video diving deeper on Max Arfsten, and how he does (and doesn't) fit into the #USMNT picture.
I expect he will be on the world cup roster, and I have some real questions as to how Poch will fit him in...So I figured I would look deeper at his strengths and weaknesses!
