3 years of building Decube. Some lessons I’ve learned the hard way:
Don’t celebrate until the contract is signed. Verbal yes means nothing till legal and procurement are done—especially in enterprise deals.
Term sheets are not funding. Only count when the money hits your bank.
If you’re building deep tech (like infra, DevOps, observability)—start from the US. SEA VCs are cautious. In the US, $3–5M seed for hard tech isn’t rare.
Early team matters a lot. Skills can be taught. Hunger can’t.
I’m honestly frustrated.
My kid is just 7. While checking his school iPad Safari history, I came across some searches that were completely inappropriate for his age. It shook me.
As a parent, that moment hit hard — and I knew I couldn’t just sit back.
So I decided to build something from the ground up: an AI-powered search engine just for kids, with built-in parental controls. Fully automated. No ads. Not here to make money — just trying to make sure no parent has to go through what I did.
