What is a validator?
A computer that keeps a blockchain running: it checks transactions, votes on blocks and keeps a current copy of the network state.
On Solana, each validator's vote is weighted by the SOL staked with it.

Today, a transaction becomes final, meaning permanent and irreversible, after about 12.8 seconds.
