imagine if this guy did his crimes in the US where we have the death penalty and you never had to read shit like this
Yes, reading comprehension and text understanding are, as expected, not your strong suit. I did not say that I don’t want political texts in music - I said I don’t need them. The music I listen to doesn’t have to be political as far as I’m concerned. And among nearly 700 releases on DTB, you’ll only find a fraction that is NSBM and, on top of that, somehow interpretable as political - which I would also say about the lyrics you quoted. For you there may be a straight line from the lyrics to the deportation of foreigners, but for me this lyric also corresponds to the canon of tropes that have been common in Black Metal for decades: it is about the glorification of heroes and their battles, and the rejection of foreign infiltration and mixing. So are lyrics in which people sing about pagan warriors and their struggle and the rejection of Christian invaders, in your eyes, just as political as a song text about the Second World War and the defense against mass migration? If you honestly hold this opinion, fine - then of course everything about Black Metal is political for you. I, however, do not see it as politics; I see it as a legitimate artistic expression of thoughts and feelings that matter to the musician and lyricist. From this, first and foremost, nothing else follows than song material that is undeniably to be classified in the realm of art and culture. Whether politics then also arises from it - that is, in the form of someone, as a political activist, also working to ensure that there is no more mass migration - that does of course happen, also in NSBM, but it is simply something different from art that arises from introspection and reflection. The dream of a National Socialist Reich is originally escapist; only the actual and energetic effort to create such a Reich becomes politically activist - and one is usually very far removed from that even in NSBM. In any case, I find it very strange when it is insinuated that such song lyrics are preparing the next Wannsee Conference. Art doesn’t work that way; one should actually know that. Otherwise the polemical claim that Death Metal lyrics about the rape, mutilation and murder of people are the cause of murder and manslaughter would also be permitted (even though it is equally false).

JUST IN: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman declares the world needs to “accept some bad things happening” in exchange for the benefits of AI.

i’m reading the mars trilogy for the first time right now and kicking myself for not reading it sooner. i am afraid that it might ruin a lot of other sci-fi for me though lol
actually kind of shocked how few people mention kim stanley robinson when it comes to science fiction because the mars trilogy is basically the gold standard for excellently written hard sci-fi to me

the guest obviously has an incredible soundtrack and i love how much of it is used diegetically, but there’s something very funny to me about the idea that a bunch of high schoolers in bumfuck new mexico or wherever would be listening to DAF’s “der mussolini” at a house party

many words have been written on the virtues of the shower beer, yet many are afraid to discuss its under appreciated cousin, the toilet beer

i love when you can really tell that an actor clearly wrote their own imdb biography, like the terrible kid who plays the hitler clones in the boys from brazil

recently did a villeneuve deep dive, and all the people saying he isn’t “weird” enough to put a guild navigator in dune or that he isn’t enough of a “freak” to adapt god emperor have clearly never seen anything he made before sicario

i wouldn’t expect many to have seen maelström (2000) but it’s about a woman who falls in love with the son of a man she killed in drunk driving accident, narrated by a talking fish who’s being endlessly butchered in some kind of fish hell. denis is a freak!
