“elections can be deeply defective if they occur without the different sides getting an adequate opportunity to present their respective cases, or without the electorate enjoying the freedom to obtain news and to consider the views of the competing protagonists.”

🇬🇪Georgia’s Constitutional Court is deciding whether to ban every party that won a seat against Georgian Dream in 2024.
Two years of continuous nightly protest, 91 political prisoners and a frozen EU path lead to this.
We need to look at Georgia now!

Yes indeed, explained in a nutshell - hiking up interest rates can't cure supply-side inflation and can make it worse. So why raise interest rates? To protect the value of the hoarders' and lenders' money and debt repayments while workers, businesses and borrowers suffer.
The Bank of England has raised interest rates to 4%, supposedly to tackle inflation.
There is just one problem with this decision. The Bank knows that much of the inflation we are suffering is being driven by rising oil and energy prices, largely resulting from conflict in the Middle East.
It also knows that raising interest rates cannot reduce those prices.
So why is it doing this?
The answer is that the Bank believes it must suppress demand elsewhere in the economy to compensate for rising energy costs.
In other words, it is deliberately making mortgages more expensive, increasing business borrowing costs, discouraging investment and reducing household spending power.
And all this when people are already struggling with higher energy bills. That is problem number one.
There is, however, another problem. Higher interest rates increase costs for businesses, which can then feed through into higher prices. They can, in that case, add to inflation rather than reduce it.
The Bank is imposing economic pain to address a problem its chosen policy cannot directly solve.
That is not sound economic management. It is the consequence of an economic dogma that refuses to recognise the difference between inflation caused by excessive demand and inflation caused by supply shocks.
When will we learn?

That’s the path of Aleksei Titov, a senior geophysicist on Fervo Energy’s Data Acquisition and Advanced Analytics team. At IMAGE 2026, he co-authored four talks on what we’re learning beneath Cape Station, from microseismic imaging to fault characterization, alongside research partners at Rice, LBNL, and MIT.
“I’m basically applying the skills I learned back in school when I was doing my PhD and applying them to real applications,” Aleksei says.
At Fervo, that means turning years of subsurface expertise into clean, firm power, and working on problems that don’t have a textbook answer yet.
If you’re a geophysicist, data scientist, or wondering where your skills could go next, your expertise could power this too.

Zohran Mamdani: “What last night showed us is that Americans are tired of being told that their needs are unrealistic by politicians who’ve been bought by the wealthiest people in the country. This country has elected a new generation of leadership. A generation with a mandate to lower the cost of living, to build not bomb, to never betray the working people who entrusted them with power. I hear often the politics we’re fighting for in New York City are not possible outside of city limits and what last night showed us is that working people are the majority whether we are speaking of Austin or Ann Arbor or Astoria and it is time to put those same people first in our politics”

Nowhere did Republican hubris backfire more spectacularly than in North Carolina. They redrew the congressional map twice to lock in power.

The folly of Iran-hawk political punditry appears from the very first sentence: "Republicans supported the decision to go to war against Iran."
But *Americans* did not support the decision to go to war. Try caring about what the American people want rather than catering to your own shrinking minority.
Republicans supported the decision to go to war against Iran. I think we have to take into account the unhappiness with status of the war, but the support fell when officials started saying things like the terrorists in Tehran want a new peaceful path with the U.S. as they were literally shooting at our forces. Once the decision to take the fight to Iran was made, we needed to follow through and Trump should’ve put Sec Rubio and Adm Cooper in charge of explaining it to the electorate. Still should.

Tonight, I make a solemn promise to every single Texan. Whether you voted for me or Governor Abbott, or felt so betrayed by a broken politics that you did not vote at all.
Hear what Texas said today, loud and clear: Your government belongs to you. And as your governor, I will never forget it. There will be no special set of rules for the wealthy and powerful. No looking the other way when someone in my own party does wrong.
The trust you have placed in me tonight is not a blank check. It is a sacred responsibility. And I intend to earn it every single day.
