In 2018 I wrote a review paper in Nature on the impact of climate change on tropical forests (nature.com/articles/s41586-0β¦, subscription-free rdcu.be/3vsw)
I said that tropical forests were once a carbon sink, reducing climate change, but would soon be a carbon source 1/5

Carbon offsets are not the solution to the #ClimateEmergency. We need to drastically reduce emissions, fast.
But carbon offsets πππ§ hep with the DeforestationEmergency, and do reduce atmospheric carbon: they are part of the solution.
