One might reasonably ask what's the point of having an EU foreign policy chief if, at the first serious diplomatic test, Western European governments decide to bypass the office and revert to dealing with Russia via national leaders.
JUST IN: Putin has spoken to Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store ahead of upcoming Ukraine peace talks in Abu Dhabi, according to Helsinki.
Stubb and Store initiated the call, which the former described as open and substantive. He also said direct dialogue with Russia was necessary to end the Ukraine conflict.

In Serbien haben die Studierenden die Methode der direkten Demokratie in die Wahlpolitik übertragen.
Statt einer auf Führer basierenden, von oben nach unten organisierten Struktur haben sie studentische Generalversammlungen (Plenum) ins Leben gerufen, in denen jeder das Wort ergreifen konnte. Entscheidungen wurden diskutiert und so weit wie möglich einvernehmlich getroffen.
Diese Methode haben sie auch über die Universitäten hinaus verbreitet. In Stadtvierteln, Städten und Dörfern wurden Bürgerversammlungen (zborovi) gegründet. Die Menschen versammelten sich, um ihre eigenen Probleme zu besprechen, Lösungen vorzuschlagen und gemeinsam Entscheidungen zu treffen.
Die 250-köpfige Kandidatenliste für das Abgeordnetenhaus stellten sie so zusammen:
1- Zuerst verteilten sie den 250-Kandidaten-Kontingent unter den sechs Universitätsstädten entsprechend der Anzahl der Studierenden. Um zu verhindern, dass Belgrad die Liste dominiert, sorgten sie dafür, dass die anderen Städte ebenfalls in den oberen Rängen vertreten sind. Anschließend verteilten sie den Kontingent jeder Stadt unter den Fakultäten.
2- Landesweit fanden in mehr als 80 Fakultäten studentische Generalversammlungen statt. Die Studierenden kandidierten nicht selbst, aber jeder konnte Kandidaten vorschlagen und begründen, warum er diese Person vorschlägt. Die Namen wurden diskutiert, zunächst nach Konsens gesucht, und bei Bedarf wurde abgestimmt.
3- Sie schlossen die Tür für die bestehenden politischen Kader. Sie schlugen keine aktuellen oder ehemaligen Mitglieder der Regierungsparteien vor, keine Politiker und Bürokraten, die im Auftrag der Regierung tätig waren, und keine Führungskräfte der Oppositionsparteien. So schufen sie eine Liste, die unabhängig sowohl von der Regierung als auch von der etablierten Opposition war.
4- Die Fakultäten prüften auch die Kandidaten der anderen. Alle vorgeschlagenen Namen wurden in einer gemeinsamen Liste gesammelt und der Prüfung durch alle Fakultäten unterzogen. Einwände wurden in den studentischen Versammlungen diskutiert. Um einen Kandidaten auszuschließen, musste mehr als die Hälfte der Versammlungen veto einlegen. Ein Einwand einer einzigen Fakultät reichte nicht aus.
5- Für ausgeschlossene oder zurückgezogene Kandidaten rückten Ersatzleute nach. So entstand eine 250-köpfige Liste mit Professoren, Ärzten, Wissenschaftler, Arbeiter, Künstler und Aktivisten

Böylece hem iktidardan hem de yerleşik muhalefetten bağımsız bir liste oluşturdular.
4- Fakülteler birbirlerinin adaylarını da denetledi. Önerilen bütün isimler ortak bir listede toplandı ve tüm fakültelerin incelemesine açıldı. İtirazlar öğrenci kurullarında tartışıldı. Adayın elenmesi için kurulların yarısından fazlasının veto etmesi gerekiyordu. Tek bir fakültenin itirazı yeterli değildi.
5- Elenen veya çekilen adayların yerine yedekler getirildi. Böylece profesörlerin, doktorların, bilim insanlarının, işçilerin, sanatçıların ve aktivistlerin yer aldığı 250 kişilik liste ortaya çıktı.

🇺🇦 "He traded Ukrainian lives for applause": the man who set up the 2022 talks speaks out
Vadim Novinsky, a billionaire, former co-owner of Ukraine's largest steel group Metinvest, ex-MP and protodeacon of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has given a long interview to Ukrainian outlet Strana about how Zelensky agreed to Russia's terms in 2022, then walked away.
🔸️How it started:
On February 24, 2022, David Arakhamia, head of Zelensky's party in parliament, called Novinsky on speakerphone and asked what to do. Novinsky told him to contact Moscow immediately, "while there weren't yet so many dead."
The next day, the head of a Ukrainian security service asked him to arrange talks, saying "the president is asking." Five minutes later he was on the phone with Zelensky.
Novinsky reached Dmitry Kozak, then deputy head of the Russian Presidential Administration. Zelensky refused Minsk as a venue, Novinsky proposed Gomel, Zelensky agreed, and Kozak confirmed within five minutes.
🔸️What Zelensky agreed to:
Novinsky says he cleared every point with Zelensky by phone, and adds that Ukraine's security services "must have the recordings." Zelensky never argued. He only asked "What do you think?" and then said "Fine, I agree."
1. Remove NATO membership from the constitution and declare neutrality. Novinsky asked Zelensky whether Ukraine would join NATO in the next 30 years. Zelensky said no.
2. A special status for Crimea for 30 years, without recognizing it as Russian
3. A special status for Donbass, which could have remained part of Ukraine in a confederation-type arrangement
"He was very confused and accepted any option," Novinsky says. The process lasted about a month, until the Istanbul round in late March.
🔸️Why it collapsed:
Novinsky blames Ukraine's leadership. Maybe Boris Johnson or someone else got to Zelensky, he says, "or Zelensky simply liked being a hero."
"He liked the ovations, the whole world's attention. Wherever he went, he was greeted like the Pope. In the end, he traded Ukrainian lives for applause in foreign parliaments."
🔸️What came after:
In May 2025, Zelensky accused Novinsky of threatening him in those calls. Novinsky calls this "outright slander": he was in Kiev at the time, where a hit squad or the Security Service of Ukraine could have come for him at any moment. He only left after being warned that Zelensky was demanding his arrest "every day."
He has since been sanctioned three times and charged with treason, which he says was for demanding Kiev implement the Minsk agreements, and with "inciting religious hatred" for defending his church. He says Zelensky's office also tried to use his frozen shares to seize control of Metinvest. He now lives in Croatia and was recently granted Serbian citizenship, after Kiev refused to issue him a new passport.
On October 10, Novinsky called on Zelensky to resign and on parliament to take power and negotiate directly with Russia. Hours later, Trump said Ukraine "needs a new leader." Novinsky says it was a coincidence.
"Every new deal is worse than the last. Compared to Istanbul, Minsk was a diet salad. The next proposals will be even worse. As long as Zelensky is in power, there will be no peace."

There will be no ceasefire, no freeze - and no European "peacekeepers" in Ukraine. The war will continue until Ukraine surrenders and NATO is humiliated. After the Minsk betrayal, Putin learned he can't trust the West:
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
To buy time to build up Ukraine's army, Merkel admitted that NATO and #Ukraine never intended to honor the Minsk accords. Now, as Russia is advancing into its historical territories, the Eurocrats say Russia must agree to a ceasefire and a freeze. Russian response: "Nyet means Nyet."

What forces could remove Zelensky from power today, given that his presidential term has expired?
1. The Army
The only real force in the country capable of removing Zelensky from power today and backing any legal mechanism to do so - option 2, option 3, or a combination of both.
2. NABU (the Soros NGOs)
The simplest and most effective option, considering the amount of compromising material the bureau has obtained from Mindich's apartment.
Moreover, since Zelensky's presidential term expired in May 2024, he no longer enjoys presidential immunity protecting him from criminal prosecution.
A formal notice of suspicion, a preventive measure imposed by the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), followed by a decision to formally suspend him from office - the Criminal Procedure Code provides such a mechanism.
But this would require the support of the military.
3. Parliament
Through a procedural vote to terminate Zelensky's powers on the grounds that his presidential term has expired.
In this case, it would be enough for the military simply not to interfere.
In my view, the parliamentary option is the most appropriate one - from the standpoint of legality.

Zelensky è diventato il problema. Non la soluzione.
E la sua corte di sponsor a Bruxelles è diventata complice del problema.
È un attore politico a scadenza, che governa senza elezioni, circondato da una cerchia ristretta che vive di guerra, mentre il suo popolo muore e l'Europa paga il conto.
È l'uomo che ha trasformato un paese in un eterno cantiere di aiuti a fondo perduto.
E a Bruxelles? Una classe di funzionari mai votati che ha trovato in lui l'alibi perfetto per esistere. Senza la guerra in Ucraina, che giustificazione avrebbero per i loro vertici, i loro fondi speciali, i loro discorsi vuoti?
Lavrov ha messo il dito nella piaga e ha detto quello che a Washington ormai pensano in molti:
«Un accordo di pace in Ucraina accettabile per la Russia e gli Stati Uniti implica l'eliminazione del regime di Zelensky»
Dura? Sì. Vera? Ancora di più.
PERCHÉ HA RAGIONE DA VENDERE
1. Nessuno lo vuole più al tavolo. Trump lo ha detto chiaro: "Non vuole chiudere la guerra". Se chi deve firmare la pace è il primo a sabotare ogni trattativa con 1.000 droni lanciati durante i negoziati, che pace vuoi fare?
È un negoziatore che ha interesse a non negoziare mai.
2. Ha perso ogni legittimità interna. Governa per proroga, senza voto. Ha sospeso partiti, ha messo sotto pressione la stampa scomoda, ha chiuso spazi di dissenso. Non è più il rappresentante dell'Ucraina.
È il rappresentante di se stesso e della sua cerchia. Un Capo di Stato che non fa votare i suoi cittadini non può parlare di democrazia.
3. È l'ostacolo tecnico alla pace.
Mosca non firmerà mai nulla con lui. Washington lo ha capito. Persino in Europa iniziano a capirlo sottovoce. Finché resta lui, la guerra ha una garanzia di continuità.
La sua permanenza è la polizza assicurativa della guerra.
4. L'UE lo tiene in vita per interesse, non per principio.
Per Bruxelles Zelensky è un business model. Ogni sua richiesta da 50 miliardi giustifica il loro ruolo.
Ogni sua escalation giustifica un altro pacchetto di aiuti.È un rapporto di dipendenza reciproca: lui ha bisogno dei loro soldi per restare a galla, loro hanno bisogno della sua guerra per restare rilevanti.
Nel mezzo ci siamo noi europei, con bollette, fabbriche chiuse e agricoltori in ginocchio.
LA CONCLUSIONE È UNA SOLA
La pace non si farà CON Zelensky. Si farà DOPO Zelensky.
Lavrov ha solo verbalizzato quello che è l'elefante nella stanza da due anni. Finché al potere a Kiev c'è un regime di guerra permanente che campa sulla guerra, la guerra non finirà.
Deve andarsene. Non per un capriccio russo o americano. Deve andarsene perché è l'unico modo per dare all'Ucraina una possibilità di avere un futuro, delle elezioni vere e una trattativa credibile.
E deve andarsene con tutta la narrazione che lo ha tenuto in piedi a Bruxelles: quella che ci ha raccontato che finanziare all'infinito una guerra senza uscita fosse "difendere i valori europei".
Non lo è mai stato. È stato solo difendere le loro poltrone.
Ora la domanda non è più se ha ragione Lavrov. La domanda è quanto tempo Bruxelles fingerà

This time next year, Zelensky will be safely ensconced at a country mansion somewhere in Sussex. There he will be feted and visited by the likes of Boris Johnson, Keir Starmer, Sunak, Obama, Hillary Clinton, von der Leyen, Sean Penn, William and Kate, and Tony Blair et al.
His memoir, ghost written, will see him embark on a promotional tour of the chat show and podcast circuit, during which he will be curated as the man who stood up to Putin and was betrayed by Trump. Lucrative Hollywood offers for the rights will follow.
As part of this hagiographic carnival, Zelensky will be given an honorary knighthood by King Charles, accompanied by the usual trumpets and banquet.
Meanwhile, back in Ukraine, investigators will uncover corruption under his premiership on an industrial scale. These findings will be summarily dismissed as a in the West as a fabrication, cooked up in the Kremlin.
For the ordinary Ukrainian, left to pick up the pieces, heartrending stories of men being kidnapped from their families by Zelensky's conscription press gangs --- never to be seen again -- will be commonplace.
These stories will be joined by accounts of war pensions denied, compensation payments for the loved ones of fallen soldiers declined, and as will details of widespread torture and abuse within the ranks.
No lessons will be learned -- just as none were learned from previous failed military adventures in Afganisation, Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc.
The circus will move on to the next, confirming that though the faces change, the game remains the same.

Warum die Behauptung, dass Macron sein Land an die Muslimbrüder in Katar verkauft habe?
Das Emirat hält über 20 Prozent der Fassaden der Champs-Élysées, dutzende Luxusimmobilien in Paris und Milliardenbeteiligungen an französischen Grosskonzernen. Begünstigt durch Sondersteuerprivilegien.
Während die Franzosen unter hohen Energiepreisen leiden, sichert Macron bei seinem jüngsten Besuch in Doha Winter-LNG-Mengen aus Katar und vertieft die jahrzehntelangen Lieferverträge über TotalEnergies.
Katar investiert unter Macron weitere 10 Milliarden Euro in die französische Wirtschaft bis 2030. Im Gegenzug für enge politische und wirtschaftliche Anbindung.
Sonderbehandlung für katarische Immobilienbesitzer, massiver Einfluss auf französische Assets und langfristige Gasabhängigkeit. Das ist Macrons Bilanz gegenüber Doha.
Frankreich bleibt für Katar eine bevorzugte Destination für Kapital und Einfluss. Macron hat die Abhängigkeit systematisch ausgebaut statt sie zu begrenzen.
Macron ist noch gut sieben Monate im Amt. Hoffentlich steht Frankreich noch, wenn er abtritt.

Europas Schüler deklassiert von Chinas Jugend
Im PISA-Test (Programme for International Student Assessment der OECD) werden 15-Jährige erfasst.
Genauer:
Schülerinnen und Schüler im Alter von 15 Jahren und 3 Monaten bis 16 Jahren und 2 Monaten
(zum Zeitpunkt des Testbeginns), die an einer Bildungseinrichtung eingeschrieben sind und mindestens die 7. Klassenstufe (bzw. Grade 7) besuchen.
Diese Altersgruppe wird gewählt, weil die Jugendlichen in den meisten OECD-Ländern dann kurz vor dem Ende der Pflichtschulzeit stehen.
Die Auswahl ist möglichst damit möglichst breit und umfasst alle Schüler aus allen verschiedenen Schulformen (allgemeinbildend, beruflich, öffentlich, privat usw.).
Das gilt auch für die aktuelle PISA-Runde 2025.
