Van Hollen would probably be my 2 or 3rd choice in a Democratic primary, but its sad he seems to be keen on launching a likely doomed presidential campaign instead of seizing the moment and presenting himself as a compromise candidate to replace schumer.
The AP has called AD36 for Democrat Ida Obeso-Martinez, reversing the GOP's 2024 flip of this seat...
...and we're done here. The blue Imperial County portion of #AD36 updates with another 3,070 votes that Republican Jeff Gonzalez carries by 8.9%, netting him another 272 votes and increasing his lead to 3,575 votes.
GOP flip of a majority-Latino VRA district.
I think it matters much more of the Democratic candidate we nominate rather than the Republican candidate will go against.

Congratulations to Jane Kim on her election as California Insurance Commissioner.
At a time when insurance companies are raking in record profits while working families struggle to afford coverage, Jane will stand up to powerful corporate interests.

I mean, the best way to get rid of Matsui (or any centrist Dem in California) is to get rid of jungle primaries.
Vang would be going to Congress right now if California has normal primaries.
Ballots will continue to go Mai's way, and even if she loses (which is the more likely case), it will give her a very clear picture of what she'd need to do in two years to oust Doris
I know DSA and WFP will back her again in 2028 if needed

Republicans in the upper Midwest didn’t do as bad compared to the rest of the country.

Agreed. Schumer should give her an ultimatum: either switch parties (or become an Angus King style “independent who caucuses with the Democrats”) or we take you out.
If I was in Maine because they used ranked choice voting I would rank Troy Jackson 1st, write in Brent Andrews 2nd and write in Ashley Webb 3rd!

I believe in a world where a Palestinian child and a Jewish Israeli child growing up in the Holy Land can look forward at their life and believe it is not going to be curtailed by somebody's violence.
With a population of 107k, Burbank, CA has become the largest city in the US to have a socialist majority in government.
DSA-LA's candidates, Nolan Southerland and Mike van Gorder, join its incumbent, Konstantine Anthony, to form a majority on the city's five-member council.

VA-1: Spanberger +3, Taylor +3
VA-5: Sears +7, McGuire +2
