India’s fortress had one fatal flaw.
For centuries it watched the mountain passes.
Nobody was watching the sea.
Then a handful of European ships arrived, and a trading coy ended up ruling the subcontinent.
The gate nobody saw coming still shapes India..

For centuries, many of India’s major inland powers treated the #sea less as a #strategic threat than as a commercial highway. Few anticipated that a trading coy would come to rule much of the subcontinent. The consequences remain with India today.

Stopping wars has historically been harder than starting wars. Three contemporary developments have made conflict termination even more difficult. A short piece on this subject.

@Gen_VKSingh ‘s post 🙌 brings about much needed publicity on getting the strategic foundations of our national security strategy correctly. @IndiaToday covers the paper in brief. Do read HTTPS://www.researchgate.net… & researchgate.net/publication…
@LtGenHooda
Delighted to see the pioneering theoretical framework by distinguished Veterans — former Northern Army Commander Lt Gen DS Hooda (Retd) & Lt Col Pavithran Rajan (Retd) — receive international recognition.
Their seminal paper “Beyond the Kinetic: Deconstructing Warfare in the Socio-Technical-Cognitive Battlespace” has been extensively cited in the NATO co-funded publication Hybrid War. Threats to Power Grid Infrastructure (Chapter 5 on AI & Cognitive Warfare).
This is a landmark achievement for Indian strategic thought in the hybrid, cognitive and technological domains. Congratulations to both Veterans.

Well summarised. 🇮🇳 needs our own doctrine for the Socio-Technical-Cognitive Battlespace.
NATO has already cited Lt Gen Hooda @LtGenHooda and Lt Col Pavithran Rajan’s @SpfAdmin paper. For us the real test will be transitioning it on-ground. Algorithmic sovereignty is critical for social cohesion.

Sir this war has been happening silently for the past 20+ years
We are waking up and realising it now despite @SpfAdmin speaking about this underlying war since as long as I remember, backed by @GenHooda @NEquaker @ColHunnyBakhshi

I summarised the theory enunciated by Lt Gen Hooda and Lt Col Pavittran @SpfAdmin for my YouTube as an explainer.
Modern warfare is moving beyond the kinetic battlefield. The new battlespace increasingly connects Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Warfare, Social Media, Information Operations, Technology and the human mind.

Global surveillance can turn everyday routines into a “pattern of life” revealing movements, relationships, and habits. In conflict, that intelligence can enable targeting decisions, including decapitation strikes. The human cost of persistent surveillance demands scrutiny.
