i think pump is getting so caught up in figuring out how to make people trade more that theyβre forgetting why people wanted to trade here in the first place
was looking through some wallet data and itβs pretty ridiculous lol
hidden hand tracked 131 million trades across 4.1 million wallets in a single week and found that 69% of those trades came from just 1% of wallets
so roughly 41k wallets are generating almost 70% of the activity while more than half the wallets barely trade at all
then u look at another study where 71% of wallets that closed at least 10 positions lost money and start understanding why the trenches feel the way they do
now pump is rolling out callouts, creator rewards, competitions and whatever else they come up with next week to get people more involved
which is fine.. but at what point do we ask why we need to keep convincing people to participate?
i feel like weβre overcomplicating something pretty fucking simple
the product is the charts
nobody got into memecoins because they were impressed by the trading interface. they got into them because they watched some random guy turn rent money into retirement money and figured maybe they could do the same
look at pokemon cards.. a single ridiculous sale gets more people excited about opening packs than any marketing campaign explaining how easy it is to buy them
the outliers sell the entire market because they give everyone else something to dream about
and when the charts are running, u donβt have to beg people to show up. traders post their wins, communities start growing, people bring their friends in and suddenly the entire timeline is doing ur marketing for free
but when everything looks like a ski slope and nobody believes anything will hold, u can add all the features in the world and people still arenβt going to be excited about whatβs underneath them
which is what makes all this so strange to me
pump has more influence over the environment weβre trading in than practically anyone, yet so much of the attention seems to go toward generating more transactions rather than figuring out how to create a market people actually want to stick around in
iβm not even against any of these incentives. i just think itβs a little insane that weβre trying this hard to sell something that used to sell itself
give people charts worth talking about and theyβll do the rest

It's wild how @elonmusk can tell everyone, βTry Grok Bot, you'll love it. We release dozens of updates every week and listen to feedback,β while admitting that the sudden usage wipeouts weren't actually a bug.
People woke up to find their weekly usage already at 100%, even though they had barely used Grokbot. Support treated it like a technical issue or simply told people to buy more credits. Then Elon came out to say that the cost of running Grok Bot was too high compared to the money it was making. That is an holy crap for me π©π©
So, basically, it wasn't just a bug. They were limiting people's usage because the costs were becoming too high, but instead of explaining that clearly from the beginning, they left users confused.
That's what frustrates me the most. It's not that running powerful AI is expensive. We all understand that it costs money. It's the way the whole situation was handled. No clear warning, no proper explanation, and no honest communication when it happened. Just excuses and suggestions to buy more credits, followed by an explanation about costs after the damage was done.
Meanwhile, they're still promoting Grok Bot as if everything is perfectly fine.
I've always liked a lot of what Elon is building, but situations like this make it difficult to trust the product and the way things are communicated.
If the cost of running the service is becoming a problem, just be honest about it. Tell paying users what's happening and explain what is changing.
Don't make people think something is broken, only to come back later and explain that it was actually about the cost of running the service. That's not how you build trust with paying customers.
Try Grok @Bot! You will love it.
We land a few dozen fixes, features and sometimes powers to Bot 7 days a week and we look at your feedback to make Bot as perfect as possible.
