THE WHISTLEBLOWER WHO CRACKED THE BIGGEST SCANDAL IN UK LEGAL HISTORY
Richard Roll @Fujitsu worked on the Horizon system. In 2015 he went on @BBCPanorama and told them Fujitsu engineers had remote access to subpostmaster accounts and could change the numbers in secret.
@PostOffice called that impossible. It was their entire defence. 700 people had already been prosecuted on the back of it.
Post Office response: send lawyers to intimidate the journalists' sources. Hide Roll's identity from them. Call it a briefing. Call it protecting the brand.
Roll gave evidence in the 2019 High Court case. It helped prove the system was defective. Convictions started falling.
Since the @ITV drama aired, Fujitsu has collected around £510 million in new UK government contracts. Victims are still waiting for compensation.
One man spoke up in 2015. The institution spent a decade making sure nobody heard him.

Is there anybody home?
Victoria Derbyshire grills Labour’s James Murray and brutally exposes the sheer emptiness and can-kicking of Burnham’s regime.
It’s obvious they haven’t got a clue what to do. Everything’s a “review” or a target for doing something in several year’s time.
This is a totally useless Government.
Angela Rayner has been accused of failing miserably of failing to reach housing targets and set to be short by half a million homes.
Labour is set to miss it's target of building 1.5 million homes by half a million according to the Office for Budget Responsibility.
The OBR has revised its forecasts downwards due to weak demand, high interest rates and rising costs.
Angela Rayner has been accused of failing miserably by the Conservatives who blame taxes and red tape for making building more expensive.
Should Angela Rayner resign?

The current chancellor has NEVER had a job outside of a union or the Labour party.
Let that sink in for a minute.... He is 66 and has never had a proper job!
Anyone surprised that his budget was useless?

I suspect John Healey forgot that he has to get the permission of Labour backbenchers. They are clear - they are only interested in who and what else they can tax to pay for more benefits.
Labour can’t cut welfare and won’t cut welfare because they are the Welfare Party.
Uh oh… after John Healey clearly promised on @BBCr4today that the benefits bill will be cut before the next election, @ChrisMasonBBC tells listeners the Treasury have since been on the phone disputing he said this and that he wasn’t putting a timeline on welfare reductions.

If anyone wants further proof how totally crap our government are:
They say we need to be resilient, ready for emergency, prepared, for cyber attacks, natural disasters, yes?
In January the reliable, non internet, non computer, non satellite, almost bullet proof, non mains electrical copper wire analogue telephone system is being switched off and all land lines will then be digital.
Let that sink in.
Unlike digital services, the traditional landline network does not rely on mains electricity and continues to work in a power cut.
And working as such cannot be hacked, cyber attacked or taken out on a grand scale, during emergencies like power cuts in storms or even war.
So the government in their 'readiness 'and 'preparedness, are going to let this happen.
Think about it.
Our own government are removing one of the country's backbones to readiness, preparedness and resilience and defence in January, for good!
Hardwired copper landlines goes.
Resilience gone.
Network resilience to digital and cyber attacks gone.
Independence from satellites gone.
That is how our government are preparing for war.
WHY?
IT MAKES NO SENSE.
And all done rather on the quiet.
Who are this government actually working for?

Wes Streeting — our let's-get-you-to accept war minister — is against sovereignty. He's pro EU.
After Uni, he's worked in the charity sector.
He is against Sovereignty he is pro EU.
A career politician. Never lifted anything heavier than a kettle and now he's talking war.
War goes hand in hand with death, but it's a death he will never face. He'll be suited and booted, served tea in a china cup, he'll wear a crisp suit, and he'll be smell of cologne, whilst mothers potentially open letters about their sons who died on some unpronounceable battlefield in a land they have no allegiance to and will never see.
As the body count rises because our inept political class have neither the skill nor the decency to talk about peace, more taxes will disappear and the industrial military complex will see rising profits, as Wes stays immaculately groomed telling the nation how proud he is from some warm TV studio, being interviewed by some anchor with zero skin in the game except their salary and bonuses.
Gone are the days of John Wayne propaganda movies glamourising fake heroes.
Are we really picking a fight with a superpower with a defunct navy a depleted army and an air force so diminished it looks like it's been shrink wrapped, whilst simultaneously giving our best defence, the US, the cold shoulder?
Does this party in government who have denounced our sovereignty expect you to risk death for it?
Prosecuting veterans who were following orders whilst expecting them to be ready to be called up again. Many suspect they'd even go to these lengths to stop a general election.
How do mortgages get paid whilst the breadwinners are away fighting for someone else's country? Are we sitting ducks in the face of one of two things? Enormous incompetence or deliberate destruction, financially and structurally?
It's my belief these morally bankrupt individuals who sit out of harm's way are devoid of the intelligence to bring about peace.
They're right to a degree about the threat of invasion. It happens most days on our beaches and in our ports
Our only defence is the weather.
Soaring taxes fuel and energy prices, but money for war.
I think we have the technology, we have the structure for a better life than this. We just don't have the political will to implement it .

The #r4today programme just had Shadow Chancellor Andrew Griffith on. And instead of asking him for his detailed take on Labour’s Budget, Nick Robinson spent much of the interview beating him up over an imaginary Budget that Griffith hasn’t delivered and may never deliver, while taking him to task for publicly endorsing Liz Truss’s Budget.
This is why people hate the media.
What does that sort of interview achieve? Precisely nothing. It just leaves listeners with a sense of despair. Labour’s Budget is inadequate, but don’t worry, the opposition won’t deliver anything better. Great!
What is the purpose of this? Why not give Griffith the time and opportunity to say his piece, explain what he thinks is wrong with Labour’s Budget and then challenge him on his answers? Why does Robinson have to insert himself so forcefully into the narrative?
And as for Liz Truss, of course ministers and backbenchers were going to try to sound loyal to their prime minister. That’s politics. Our political system is built around tribal parties and collective responsibility. It’s hardly the devastating gotcha Robinson seems to think it is to point out that Griffith publicly supported Truss’s Budget.
I’m not suggesting politicians shouldn’t be challenged. Of course they should. But challenging politicians is not the same thing as constantly trying to catch them out, score points or win an argument.
There has to be a better way of doing political journalism than this. One that leaves the audience better informed rather than simply more cynical, disillusioned and despairing.

POST OFFICE JAILED AN INNOCENT WOMAN
Imagine. You run a small @PostOffice in Hull. You show up every day, you serve your community, you do the job. Then one day a computer program called Horizon decides you owe £59,000 that never existed. A computer program with a known glitch problem.
Post Office didn't check the software. It just marched Janet Skinner @Janetsk20073533 into court in 2007 and got her jailed for 9 months. She served 2 behind bars. She lost her house. She lost her job. She lost her name in the eyes of her own neighbours, all because nobody in a position of power fancied questioning a machine.
Here's where any decent organisation would stop digging the hole ... The Post Office kept digging.
A year after she walked out of prison, they hauled her back into court again, this time chasing her for "proceeds of crime."
Proceeds of a crime she never committed, calculated by a system that couldn't add up in the first place. Bold strategy from the people who broke the calculator in the first place.
Less than two weeks after that fresh nightmare finally ended, Janet's body gave out completely. Neurological collapse. Paralysed from the neck down.
Doctors told her she'd never walk again.
She spent a year in a wheelchair and two years learning to walk. She says her own immune system turned on her. Years of fighting a system that refused to admit fault, and in the end it was her own body that surrendered first.
So how does this story end? With an apology? A cheque that actually matches what she lost? Of course not.
In 2025, after everything, the compensation scheme handed her an offer worth around 15% of her claim.
Janet called it an insult. I'd call it a joke, except nobody's laughing, least of all the people who wrote the offer letter from the comfort of a job that still exists.
9 months in prison for a bug. 2 years in a wheelchair for the stress of proving her innocence. A payout that wouldn't cover the damage to her health, let alone her life. And somewhere, the people who signed off on her prosecution are still drawing a pension.
Nobody who signed off on any of this has lost a house, a job, or a night's sleep. They got promotions. She got a wheelchair and an insulting cheque. Accountability had every chance to show up here and chose not to..

Er … hidden away in today’s Budget is a new Data Centre Covenant.
taxpayers will fund over £700 MILLION in AI initiatives and the government is introducing special treatment for strategically important AI data centres.
They will receive PRIORITY access to electricity capacity, faster connections and faster planning decisions.
A new Quango … the Ministerial Control Centre will push these projects through.
So with energy in short supply and prices linked to supply … ordinary citizens er … are not priority!
Better stock up on brand and loo roll. Just like they told you.

"average household incomes will be between £440 and £770 lower in real terms in 2029-30 than when Labour came to power two years ago".
"the biggest decline in living standards since modern records began in 1961"
