As part of the birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under the 𝐂𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐂 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐌𝐄 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟕, Srinagar Police, Hazratbal Zone, organised a Farmers and Artisans Exhibition on October 24, 2026, at Government Degree College Batapora, Srinagar, to promote local talent, traditional craftsmanship and agricultural produce. The event was held under the supervision of SP Hazratbal, accompanied by SDPO Zakura and the SHOs of Police Stations Zakura and Nigeen. A large number of students and prominent citizens participated in the exhibition. Various stalls showcasing locally grown agricultural produce, handicrafts, handloom products and traditional artisan items were set up, providing a platform for local farmers and artisans to exhibit their products and skills. The displays received appreciation from visitors. Addressing the gathering, SP Hazratbal highlighted the objectives of the Civic Action Programme and emphasised that Srinagar Police remains committed not only to maintaining peace and security but also to promoting community engagement, encouraging youth participation and supporting local farmers and artisans. On October 25, 2026, #PoliceStationKhanyar received a complaint from Basharat Hussain, S/o Gh. Qadir Gulzar, R/o Miskeen Bagh, Srinagar, regarding the theft of valuable gold ornaments from his residence. Acting promptly, FIR No. 68/2026 under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Khanyar, and investigation was immediately initiated. During the course of investigation, multiple Police teams were constituted to identify and apprehend the culprits. Through meticulous investigation, human intelligence and technical surveillance, the Police teams successfully identified, traced and apprehended two accused. The arrested accused have been identified as: 1. Nikita Das, D/o Ganesh Das, aged 24 years, R/o Morigaon, Assam. 2. Deep Baruah, S/o Joy Kanta Baruah, aged 28 years, R/o Morigaon, Assam. Investigation revealed that both accused had been working as domestic helpers at the complainant's residence and had allegedly committed the theft before fleeing. During further investigation, the stolen gold ornaments were recovered from the possession of the accused, comprising: ● Gold Rings – 16 ● Gold Necklaces – 05 ● Gold Bangles – 04 ● Gold Brooches – 02 ● Gold Tie Pins – 03 ● Gold Pendants – 07 ● Gold Earrings – 09 The total estimated value of the recovered gold ornaments is approximately ₹𝟒𝟓 𝐋𝐀𝐊𝐇. The Hon’ble Court of the Additional Sessions Judge, Srinagar, has awarded life imprisonment to the convicts. The case pertains to FIR No. 109/2022 of Police Station Batamaloo, registered under Sections 498-A, 302, 120-B and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Upon conclusion of the trial, the Hon’ble Court convicted Mst. Hafeeza Begum, Parveez Ahmad Dar alias Bilal, and Shahnawaz Ahmad Dar under Sections 302 and 120-B IPC. The Court subsequently awarded life imprisonment to the convicts.
