I think it's important for everyone in AB to remember that the UCP didn't have to use the NWC in their legislation. They also could have (and I'd argue should have) used binding arbitration rather than imposing a contract.
Everyone should be asking themselves why
Just sent a letter to the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.
I am really hoping to see a master class in leadership tomorrow for Alberta teachers and students.

Good morning teachers and anyone else who supports public education.
Today is the day to show that support.
See you at the Legislature.

Alberta’s government announced that November diploma exams for high school students are now optional. Students will be automatically exempt from writing but may choose to take them.
The province confirmed this won’t impact post-secondary applications and that January and June exams remain unchanged.

"Face the hammer"... of binding arbitration, that will look at teacher collective agreements across Canada and add in a classroom size cap to Alberta?
Don't threaten me with a good time.
Perhaps the gov't might want to consider stepping up now to avoid that...

Imagine living in a part of the world with a sophisticated education system that cannot be accessed. #abed
@ABDanielleSmith
The Alberta Education parent toolkit for parents to access during the strike only has numeracy and literacy for Grade 1-3.

To use a sports analogy…
Teachers are kind of like Connor McDavid.
Pay them what they ask for and be super glad they’re on your team.
You think they’re overpaid or going to be? So what?
You gonna do that job? Me either. Bless them. They’re stars. Pay ‘em.
I also went to St. Rose and the teachers here were so instrumental in my educational experience.... to the point I became an #abteacher
When I was a kid, the dedicated teachers at St. Rose School in Edmonton showed up every day to set my peers and I up for success.
A few weeks ago, I had the chance to go back and thank the teachers doing the same for the next generation #WorldTeachersDay.
Letter sent to Premier's, Minister of Finance, and Minster of education office today. #abed #fundeducation
